I presume that you have looked at increasing the level of insulation and airtightness first?

Getting your hands on a Raspberry Pi is a problem at the moment. March 2023 is the earliest at the moment.

In conclusion the paper says "There is no clear up-to-date evidence behind the rule of thumb that says MVHR is inappropriate for dwellings with air permeability above 3m³/m².hour @50Pa. This analysis has shown that MVHR systems result in improved ventilation and lower carbon emissions for all levels of airtightness. There is a compelling case for MVHR systems to be fitted in all new dwellings and to be strongly encouraged in retrofits where significant reductions in energy demand are being targeted.?

This paper will be useful to you https://www.passivhaustrust.org.uk/UserFiles/File/research papers/MVHR/2020.04.27-The Case for MVHR-v7 new cover.pdf

Yes there is a way of predicting/estimating the ACH without actually having build the building, and they are Certified Passive House Designers. That said there are both good architects and architectural designers that can also design to the Passive House Standard. Using certified passive house components also makes this easier. For MVHR they must be certified.

Very low air leakage rates are required by the Passivhaus standard and must be demonstrated for each certified building by means of a “blower door” air tightness test. The air change rate must be less than or equal to 0.6 air changes per hour, under test conditions. This site will help you - https://passipedia.org/start

Airtightness is designed-in and measured. Are you aware of PHPP - https://passivehouse.com/04_phpp/04_phpp.htm ?

There are many knowledgeable people on here. Having a read of this book is a good place to start. Remember Passive House is about a Fabric First approach.

Very interesting. By ventilation do you mean MVHR and/or Airtightness? I have an interest in peoples wellbeing in a Passive Houses.

The name "Analox Air Quality Guardian" is just a marketing term IMHO, but CO2 monitoring is the BEST way to confirm the air quality and correct functioning of a MVHR. I have spent time with @Russdl and it was hugely beneficial to have accurate CO2 levels in all the rooms while setting up the MVHR system in his lovely home.

Welcome. Home Automation is a get time and energy saver, keeping it simple is good idea and any Raspberry Pi perfect for many tasks as you say.

You would need a Sanitary Macerator Pump, Saniflo is a brand. They are a lot quieter than they use to be. They can push up hill and a long distance to.

Flat roofs often fail because the are too flat. A roof is considered to be flat if it is less than 10 degrees.

Does anyone understand how ADSL broadband actually works?
Adrian Walker replied to ProDave's topic in Boffin's Corner
The best solution is new copper directly from your house to the box. The problem is that years ago a BT accountant found out that aluminium also conducts electricity so a lot of cables are not copper and this causes lots of problems, particularly joining or terminating cables. -

I’m sure that lots of people will find that useful and adaptable to their own house. Thank you for sharing.- 30 replies

I totally agree with the other two comments. If you are going to sell the house in the future, make sure it is done correctly especially if it's going to be habitable.

Yes, it's nothing like Bamboo flooring at all. Moso forward my enquiry to Gripsure. It's very hard and solid. If you're interested they will send you a sample.
-
I like vertical cladding but sometimes this will require double batterning or spacers.
-
I was looking for a sustainable cladding product and a self-build friend in Fleet suggested Bamboo from Moso. I have samples, which are nice, and a price which is good. Not placed an order yet. I have spoken to Gripsure a couple of times and they have answered all my questions.
-
Have you thought about Bamboo cladding, like https://www.moso-bamboo.com/ ? They have an agent in the UK (www.gripsure.co.uk) and it's sustainable if that's an important issue?

I would like to know the name and brand of this wallpaper
