  1. Our garage has a small room attached which is home to a sink and washing machine, like a little laundry room. However, one wall is the external single skin wall and the cold pipe pipes did freeze during the winter. What is the best method to insulate the outside wall - I am looking at internally insulating, but there’s conflicting information about vapour barriers or not.
  2. Thanks for replying. Haven’t lifted the cork tiles yet to see the spacing, got to work out how to get up all the nails in the chipboard once the tiles are up.
  3. Hello everyone, a previous owner has fitted cork tiles over the chipboard flooring and as we wanting to insulate under the floorboards, it all has to come up. Due to the uneven surface we now have (the tiles were glued down) we will be changing the flooring. Asking which is better; 18mm chipboard or 18mm OSB?
  4. Hi Peter, we’ve been using a membrane to stop the insulation slab falling through the gap but asking about using insulation suitable for walls…will it be suitable for floors roo?
  5. Hi everyone, I have been fitting under my floor between the joists and have been using Knauf Insulation Omnifit slab 35 which Knauf say is suitable for suspended floors. Struggling to find alternatives that say it’s suitable for suspended floor, has anyone got experience of using wall cavity rock wool in suspended floors?
  6. Thanks for replying Adrian. The doors and windows were appalling when we moved in so there’s have been replaced. I wasn’t sure about cavity wall, but a man with a horoscope has proved that we do have that done. We’ve just started lifting the floorboards and insulating the void as we have suspended floors and part of the renovation will be a loft extension, so that will be nicely insulated when finished.
  7. Thanks for replying Radian. The UFH Company suggest it will be a 5.8kW system. Whilst some electric boilers are low cost, I think like most things, it might be poor quality at basement price so even more unfavourable if spending a lot on the boiler 🤔
  8. Thanks for replying SteamyTea. I suppose I want all of what you listed which I suppose isn’t the electric boiler route?
  9. This for this JohnMo, Never heard of exhaust air heat pump cylinders. Time for more research
  10. Hi everyone, My wife and I have downsized as we approach retirement. The bungalow we have bought is enabling us to renovate it to ensure we can future proof it. Stuck looking at heating options. Can’t decide whether you get an ASHP with a Mixergy tank supported by Solar PV or get a SAHP thermodynamic panel for hot water and an electric boiler to run our wet UFH. Any advice is welcomed.
  11. Reading all thieve threads, people are working out the cost of the electric of using the immersion. I thought the use of the immersion was only to complement the thermodynamic panel operation, or is it that this really isn’t as good as they say?
  12. I have looked at this system, but haven’t found anyone who has had one fitted. What’s your verdict?
