  1. How do you make a euphemism come? when I said I couldn’t help myself, I meant I have reserved it for collection. Important stats: drill 22Nm driver 80Nm I shall report back. I can always give them to the kids to play with.
  2. I used to but now I couldn’t get the lid off a tube a toothpaste
  3. Weak-wristed drill/driver set, £50 https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttp508kit-10-8v-1-3ah-li-ion-cordless-drill-driver-impact-driver-twin-pack/ I couldn’t help myself.
  4. Obviously the builder gets a trade price at the merchant not the comedy rrp. Just needs to find a willing victim, sorry customer who thinks they’re getting a 5 grand bath and he can keep the 2 grand ‘discount’. The honest building trade for you...
  5. I’ve seen worse. ...hold my beer...
  6. I don’t need one but I’ve bought it. Not sure I’m convinced in the Titan stuff. My SDS is no longer much cop as a drill - it’s really wonky now.
  7. Get a room, you two.
  8. Ive seen these sort, seem quite reasonably priced, <£100 a baluster. Do you need to buy specific sized and drilled glass or can any glass co provide them. To be be honest I’ve got to measure up the 2 sides to determine how much I need and check the regs for glass thickness and distance between uprights. Been a while since I’ve checked the requirements. A possible but a bit fugly. Still going to be going into those Swiss cheese bricks.
  9. I’ll speak to the guy when we get to that. Discuss what he would do if something we to be bolted though into the wall. Fugly...
  10. Exactly. This is what I’m worried about happening 10 brick courses? ?
  11. Certainly sounds simple. Fixing fence posts could be a problem. Found a photo of the supporting structure Or not https://www.metrofixings.co.uk/main/product/productinfo/18644/Simpson-Strong-Tie-CPT44Z-89mm-x-89mm
  12. We are keen on the Grigio which is a Vitripiazza Anno product, 18mm thick.
  13. Products? Suppliers? Experiences? We have friends who have gone with the bottom fixing frameless look. Mounts are ££££ extra thick glass is ££££. We will be happy with a simpler (cheaper) post arrangement. The perimeter of the patio is a double thickness brick/block wall and top surface will be a vit. Porcelain slab on a dry bed. The bricks are engineering bricks with holes in them so I’m not sure whether we should fill these before the slabs are laid. And then appropriate fixings will be needed for the chosen barrier format. Comments?
  14. I’m looking for less of a bodge. Something to centralise in the bore and on rollers to accommodate any joints/steps.
  15. holy thread revival batman... An endoscope is surprisingly useless when its being pushed along the bottom of a largish bore pipe. The 'horizon' is next to useless. Does anyone have some hacks/tools for getting the camera is the best position to see the bore of the pipe as it goes down the hole?
  16. In practical terms how was brushless better?
  17. Why do men have dirty minds? They have to because fanny is a term of endearment...
  18. Any updates @Trw144? what do you do with the cable? Just tuck it somewhere tidy? Does it not need any conduit or protection as it’s LV? (I am looking for alternatives to my abortive brick lights idea)
  19. If I did, I'd want a bloody long tea break anyway. (Contrary to earlier post, I think I may have a Ryobi P210 which has 40Nm torque despite its age. I think the batteires only give you one attempt at that torque before they need charging again)
  20. Most people will get nowhere near exhausting 2x 3Ah batteries at once within an hour. I don't know what my 2007 Ryobi 18v cordless is pulling but it was always enough for a less than hobbyist. I'm surprised any of the 10 year old NiCad batteries still work.
  21. Charge time is a red herring but what of the mythical brushless benefits versus a lower torque rating?
  22. Screwfix are currently knocking out a Makita 18v LXT brushless Drill and Impact driver set with 2 x 3Ah batts for £230. What's the catch? anyone able to fathom the unfathomable model numbers?
  23. There are ranges of lower voltage tools that are much smaller than the typical 18v monsters that would probably be more than adequate for most odd jobs.
  24. I’ve just had a double thickness solid block/brick wall to retain a main area approx 4.5m x 8m x 1m on 2 sides. I wasn’t wholly convinced that would be enough until it was ‘anchored’ on the corner by a set of steps also on a large concrete foundation. The intention is to infill with crap and then a decent layer (200+mm) of type 1 to be able to lay a patio on top. I would have liked to look at other solutions - gabions and self supporting stone had I wanted a more natural top finish. Went away from sleeper type arrangements early on when it was clear they were not cheap or long lasting for this application. Would not have entertained this concrete fence idea either.
  25. I hope those times happen again and those c**** are begging me to clean my gutters for a fiver. #notbitter
