Seal on bottom of cheap composite door is fubared. It’s letting a gale in down the hall. It’s only a small T section less than 10mm deep but I can’t find anything suitable. Checked out places like seal direct. where else is good for these? otherwise I might have to look at trying to slide a brush seal down the base of the door. I think the 4.8mm width of the brush seal base might fit.

This really needs another downpipe so I am not at the mercy of the neighbours dirty gutters but I think I have successfully pushed this problem into next year by cleaning as much out as I could and fitting a joint to provide support where the problem seems to be at its worst.

Insulation between suspended timber floor renovation.
daiking replied to Oz07's topic in Heat Insulation
There's no further requirements on this is there? Insulation support netting and loft insulation for my mix of 7 inch and 4 inch ground floor, floor joists. There's not going to be a any airtightness or VCL provision. Is it worth running a foam gun around the underside of room perimeters? I know its not air tight but must be an improvement worth the small extra effort? The finished flooring is a complete mix: tiles over plywood + marmox type stuff, tiles over floorboard and marmox type, 14mm engineered wood over underlay over 9mm ply over floor boards, 14mm eng wood over underlay over floorboards. So there's no draft through the floor itself but the edges are leaky and the small understairs cupboard areas are more or less open to the void. -
WiFi Speakers Not Wired for Sound

Sonos. Even ‘non-technical’ people can use them. -
I wouldn’t use 304 outside if it were me... Kent. Or not Kent.

In that case they’re too special to use and should be put away, only for use on special occasions ?

Washing up bowl? Ewwwwww... only hand wash under running water otherwise you may as well wash them in the bog. We cope by having less of that awkward stuff. Plastic chopping boards go in the washer, wooden ones get a wipe, don’t need a wash etc.

Gottcha! .... about two years too late....

you now know the builders weren’t what you thought they were at the time. Not your fault. (I’m not one for victim shaming) even if it’s not 100% of what it should have been, 80% of that is still so much better than the alternative. These things are now just your way of punishing yourself for what happened in the past. They shouldn’t be. -

?♂️ Worse things happen at sea. I bet you could find loads in future with a thermal camera but really, do you honestly expect to find mouldy spots in an otherwise hi spec build? i don’t get mould in a plasterboard tent with rain dripping down the exterior walls. -
I had to stop reading the other place. Some posters attitudes to rental tenants were abhorrent. Had they displayed such views about a recognised minority they would have been rightly pilloried. Instead, mocking the poor and/or financially unstable was condoned. Not their finest hour.

Didn’t have any Cu sulphate so when I was up near the roof yesterday I sprayed some generic roundup as far as I could reach. Will this be any use? (there does seem to be a lot of moss around the east facing, out of the sun most of the day, ground floor veluxes)

This is also extremely useful with a hammer SDS drill Very quick and ‘effective’ if you’re not concerned about damage.

Scaffolders have not come back yet so I’m trying again this afternoon. Going to cut it and join it. hope I can get a straight enough cut with a multi tool so it doesn’t leak like Tory cabinet.

Saw this on Twitter. You know when you say you can never have too many lights or sockets? You’re wrong. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-65826048.html enjoy

I do need a roofer as there is a leak around the chimney somewhere. FML.

This would have worked as I did buy a joint as well as a bag of 10 clips (not sold singly). But it was after 9 at night at night, raining and I was having to climb in and out of my son's bedroom windrow when he should have been asleep so not really the best time. I did clean it out at least which should help... From the joint you can see the next clip was 1.5m away but that scaffold Clip was keeping it in place. The video I have shows the gutter overflowing because it is full/flexing not necessarily just over shooting the gutter as run off from the roof.
-
I bottled it. There was a scaffold clip in the way so I couldn’t get enough movement in the gutter and the other end was in the neighbours without the scaffold so it was stuck. Such a simple fixed needed and it’s going to cost hundreds ?

If I fall off...

Following this thread: how hard is it to fit a Gutter bracket with the gutter already in place? (i have a scaffold in place for one night only )

no wonder they’re pissed with you ? I can only echo the be nice comments, it will drive them even madder.

Discount Offers of the Week

So it would seem the prescription charge doesn’t actually deter timewasters if 80-90% are free. It just pisses off people who actually work. -

Can’t think of anything worse than a big mirror over the bath ?
