Yeah was thinking to use some insulation below the rafters, as it’ll cut down thermal bridging too. ill do some calcs for the insulation and see what works best. thanks for the info, I’ll get it on the plans ??

Hi, Small lean to roof, 2.4m projection with a 22.5 degree angle with 2 roof lights in and concrete tiles, what size timbers are required these days? I'm thinking either 47 x 175 or 47 x 200 and doubled up around the roof lights? Just in middle of doing my plans for building control. Regards Mike

Neither for me, i prefer the compression screw fit ones. Once had a push fit under the sink, which slowly worked its way loose, until one day we pulled the plug out the sink, and i'm sure you can guess what happened!

I've had great trouble finding a supplier of PIR boards, after 4 cancelled orders, I found two suppliers on ebay who have told me they are still shipping orders, order placed, and heard nothing since! So hopefully it happens, otherwise this new kitchen won't be going ahead for a while

Using 10mm pipe seems to alleviate a lot of problems, which is what i'll be doing, as long as the runs aren't rediculously long.

I have one question about this house, how did he install his foundations?! Surely he couldn't get concrete to that location. I wonder what he used in place of it?

Is it just me or does there seem to be a lack of cross ventilation? The vents could be further away from the doors in my opinion to get better cross ventilation in some of the rooms.

With regards to keeping planning permission live, you can literally just dig a hole, as long as it will form part of your foundations, and thats enough to say you've started

Careful with the pension, it will have lost a LOT of money recently. Being young my pot was £14k, and since all this its now less than £12k, obviously the bigger pots will have lost a lot more

Ive got my new kitchen on order from them, but not taking delivery until end of may (my own choice). They are local to me, about a half hour drive, everything seemed in order when I went up, and my parents had a kitchen from them about 5 years since and it was fine, bar one door which had to be redone. Maybe you just got unlucky?

Can you dig out the existing concrete?

If there is even a small chance that power could leak into the grid, there is danger to the workers, so the inverters are programmed to shut off. You may see Battery inverters with UPS functions, but I'm pretty sure all of them require a dedicated circuit, which doesn't lead back to your CU.

Whenever there is a fault, your inverter will enter 'islanding' mode, whereby it cuts itself off from the grid, and prevents generation, the intention of this is for the safety of the DNO, so that when they start touching cables they aren't live because someones PV is inputting power into them.
