  1. Check all the rain water goods, chimney etc. check a known dry area, as some mortars can have conductive elements( common in mining areas I recall) giving the impression of damp on the resistance/damp meters warch out for those tiles, they can contain asbestos. get the windows open and get some ventilation into the building
  2. I use several second hand UPS. we get lots of dips in our supply and a few power cuts a year.. I have a UPS on the BT Router. another on the kids Xbox a larger on the others PC. that solves the power dips.. i have a generator changeover switch for the longer power outages wired to the garage where an inverter generator sits or some batteries and inverter for playing with. I like the victron stuff, installed one a while ago with a pylon tech battery for an essential fan supply.
  3. I would swap the WC and plant room about and no worries about underground pipes, just straight through the wall..
  4. They promised extra resources to the police, NHS too, just the usual lies to get votes in..
  5. Moisture resistant I feel is a cleaner cut edge less prep for finishing the edge if it’s face is showing
  6. My house is all finished so adding a duct is impossible, easier for me to install the cable and install with time and care and leave coils at either end, if not possible will have to live with the 45 meg from BT
  7. GoFibre are digging up my village. Cheapest package is for 100meg, they do 300meg and 500 meg! What type of optic fibre cables is used to the house? can you buy it so you can install it uourself and they can connect either end up?
  8. insurance risk in commercial premises of leaving unattended equipment energised
  9. I think full depth noggins would be good. maybe put half the decking in first then you will ensure that the noggins land right under a board and not in the gap between 2 boards ( this just traps water) I did 6mm gap, used offcut of plywood to ensure space was accurate
  10. Have a look at Cameron’s in Perth, got mine there coming up for 2 years ago. Good deals to be had then
  11. When I go to the skip now, it’s 10 minutes before they have lunch, no helpers then!
  12. I think I would rather spend the money on PV and batteries, never before have home batteries been so popular/ different varieties etc. Maximise the solar to allow for the poor winter months. pylontech batteries, can be added to as the system grows. better than writing a cheque to Scottish Power for £15k plus.
  13. So go to your tool station website type in galvanised nails And a list appears 2nd on the list…. you need a hammer too.. bit I will let you Google that….
  14. Galv nails. Nails for shear
  15. Every hole in the joist hangers should have a nail in it.
  16. use smaller storage heaters under 13 amp and use smart plugs to turn in and off or use a smart plug to control a 20 amp contactor
  17. Any problems with the hot taps temperature in the bathroom next to the shower?
  18. What’s the temp set on the dial on the cylinder/hot water tank?
  19. See a lot of people running 3 core and earth to lights from switch position too. allows a permanent feed and a switched feed at the light position, so along with the neutral at the switch you have covered mains power automation. 35mm deep boxes all the way….
  20. Cause they probably enter into a power agreement with a large supplier and get power at agreed rates from wind and PV sites
  21. Think the Worcester Bosch 4000 can do a 10:1 modulation so go down to 3kw…. must be others too
  22. Yes, I like his channel, does a good job, actually designs heating. Systems to suit properties rather than buying heating packs from the merchants!
