It’s a loft extension, the builders who do this day in day out will have a better understanding of what’s achievable and at what cost. The builders will know that plumbing will have to be altered, electrics upgraded etc and have real life costs for this using local trades. I lived in Edinburgh for 9 years and know what trades are available( 15 years ago anyway)?

Just make sure the runs are correct and pipework is installed properly and you will have no issues. my layout helps maintain clean pipework, as you flush the toilet then use the sink putting extra water down after the flush.

I have my sink inch and a half connecting into my WC both connecting into the same 4”. The bath then connects to the 4” at the end of the pipe. no probs

Best to keep that rod handy, maybe needed for the EV charging point or the hot tub to stop you exporting PME

the flame symbol means the thermostat itself is calling for heat, it’s not that everything else is working, problems with air lock, faulty zone actuators, etc are still possible. the thermostat doesn’t get feedback from any external device

You only need an MCS certificate if you are claiming FIT, and then it has also to be installed by an accredited installer. you can buy grid tied inverter, panels you feel and connect up, notify the DNO and away you go- no FIT payment though

Are the flow indicators on the zone valve showing flow to the rooms that are struggling to be heated?

Or turn the temps on the rooms that are reaching set point down to force more heat into the other rooms to see if they reach temp

I like the house to be comfortable, the dear Mrs likes it to be subtropical. the daily struggle with turning down the dial and denying it continues!

I think it’s easier to run separate cablingakea it easier to make changes. combining multiple supplies in 1 cable leaves you open to the regulation bashers who if they see something non standard advise it’s unsafe. I think a schematic at the incomer would be useful

They also advise that there has been some movement during the history of the building too?? I think a roof would have to pretty rubbish not to support panels, considering they are spread over many trusses. just more paperwork to justify the pen pushers.

The biggest sheet I can get is 3m long, but you can buy skirtings in 4.8m long If you were buying MDF I think buying in preprimed is the most sensible option and spend the time elsewhere so buying in skirting makes the most sense to me

I have a small MCS certified install on my roof, next year I hope to self install more panels on my garage roof( once garage has new roof). And for new inverter etc i will be self installing and only advising the DNO afterwards.

BC will be interested in the effect the panels will have on the roof timbers. dave- yours isn’t on the house or garage so they have no interest.

Make and model of light fitting would give a better chance to understand voltages etc
