PIR security light wiring

Just fitted a LAP 10W unit out of Screweys for a friend, they've got a neat terminal block that's covered by the screw-on cable gland. Clever. -
It's the firestops- a strip of rockwool sealed into a polythene bag, basically. Stapled on...

what are the paving slabs for?

Just for completeness, and because it may well help someone in future, detail attached. Note that it depicts their DM pumice flue but applies equally to the ceramic products. DM2 (stove external rendered stack timberframe)-Model(1).pdf

I'd gone quiet for a bit... Pace has slowed a touch for the fiddly work round the dormer etc. But the ceiling joists are all in, rafter ends trimmed off, fascia, felt trays and vents all on. Oh, and the firebattens for... the windows. which arrived today. But won't be fitted for a week. installer feels the scaff is a bit close as he needs to fully open them etc, so we'll just have to wait for the TF guys to complete their stuff and then we can pull the hop-ups off and then the doors and windows can go in kiddies. In the interim, they do look pretty leaning together in the kitchen. The sticks of lath leaning against the scaff are hinting at a weathertight roof tomorrow or Friday, yay!

Right then just waiting on some drawings from Schiedel, WRT using their Ignis Protect to bring stovepipe through the TF and into the Swift Air. Means I can just build a TF panel to fill in the current gap (w/ stud centres to suit the Ignis)and plunk it into place. 200mm masonry alcove freestanding on the inside for the stove, and all airtightness, insulations and cavities intact. Sounds like a winner?

Thanks Jeremy. Our verge trim is a 50mm special for the chosen clay tile so there should be space there to sneak the edge of the GSE side flashing in too. Gets us pretty close to the edge without needing to faff too much. What about at valleys? We'll be using an upstand dry valley like your own, I presume the mounting plate could overlap the valley tray as long as the side flashing was trimmed back as necessary?
-
planning Q for @JSHarris or anyone else with experience of the GSE system- what's the closest one can get to the verge- as we're using a Kytun- style strip, can the GSE tray go straight into that or does there have to be a side flashing (what's it's width, fitted?) or must there be (say) a slate and a half first? And is there really no other treatment required if you end the tray into the gutter at the eaves? Does it need to stop short to stop the water from cascading off the panel and past the gutter? Now that we've roof timbers in-situ and we know how wide the valleys are I'm trying to take a punt at how many panels we can cram in. I've tried Midsummer's online planner but I'm not sure how much side flashings can overlap valleys by etc...

what happens if there are marked daily swings with your system, @TerryE? Say ambient is 15c one day, 7c the next or v/v, as we're seeing locally at the mo...

Floor Joists: Open Web Engineered VS. I-Joists VS. Traditional Timber
dpmiller replied to Patrick's topic in Timber Frame
I asked for- and received- quotes for both plain timber *and* and upgrade to posijoists from a number of TF companies. The upcharge varied between 2-3k depending on whether they were re-sizing for screed upstairs as well. -
...and looking in some more detail the system is 40mm to combustibles so we don't need such a gaping hole in the TF which will minimise the area that is a thermal issue.

Weather pants today. But the guys worked on and the roof is now about 75% done. Roofwindows trimmed out, valleys mostly complete, ladders and cavity barriers on, porch overhang constructed. landing now has it's view Symmetry
