looks very smart though.

interesting, none of them would pass for new build. Wonder why they bother still making them.

Need a min of 150mm cav for EPS beads. Messy. Much prefer sheet insulation, smaller cav better U value.
-
the ebay user is almost same as your username here!!! forum discount ?

Had the trusses arrive for the garage, 2 of the 3 ( 4 hipped roof) main trusses are split to hell. Why do they think its acceptable to even bother sending them out ? Rejected of course. Too much to ask these days for a decent product, not like they are cheap.

id leave the reveals until you have the boards. will look much better than trying to caulk it. Are they special as mdf window boards are allways available from the merchies.
-
i quite like them as well, but, a real fireplace is a must i think especially with ASHP. If the electricity goes off then we dont have an alternative form of heating. Too much of a risk for me.

dont add double felt, you want the roof to breath. There is no possibility of water ingress with a GSE tray unless the panel is physically removed. depending on what tiles you have I found lead much neater than the galv metal flashing kits as it made our tile sit too high and looked bad. Lead soakers worked perfect.

typical bodgit and scarper window fitters, they need to use straps and fix to the blockwork. I'd insist they refit them to comply with building standards. BCO should fail that when they come to inspect. 1.3 is a fail for newbuild but ok for extensions, did they send you a copy of the certification showing 1.3 as would be interesting to see.

if anything its over the top. 150mm or standard type 1 is more than enough for a driveway usually. For resin they lay on either tarmac or concrete which need planning as they are not permeable.
-
problem you have, how external air going to get to the bottom of those eaves ? They would normally be externally exposed so fresh air continually flows through.

Minimum needed for completion certificate - advice needed
Dave Jones replied to BadgerBadger's topic in Building Regulations
dont need a completion cert to get a council tax bill though!!! -
applies to both, you get a poorer U value target for your windows to meet. Do you know what yours are ?
-
the cavity under the door looks to be filled with conc, it needs some insulation in there to stop thermal bridging and damp.
-
its Part L of building regs. also specifies the minimum U values for windows (not just the glass), do you know what your are ?

Building up ground level around the house
Dave Jones replied to crispy_wafer's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
2 bricks or 150 clear below DPC except for access doors. Try lay the crush down in 100mm lifts and wacker them to stop it cratering over time. -
i believe since 2020, doesnt matter though you dont want a crap job on your own place right ?
-
more incorrectly installed windows failing building regs. They need to be set back into the cavity so 70% of the frame is overlapping the insulation. Straps to fit. Not too late!
-
Just a heads up the windows would fail building regs as they have been installed. They are not set back 70% into the cavity insulation. Not too late to get them fitted correctly, use straps on the frames and fix them to internal blockwork.

8m long and 2.9m eaves to ridge days work. extra half day if flashing is needed.
-
GSE trays are around £50 each, 1 per panel. Very easy to fit. https://midsummerwholesale.co.uk/buy/roof-integrated-solar-pv

the education system since 1990 has ruined the kids. They are at school all day every day for years and years and when they leave cant do elementary maths or write a letter. It's beyond sad. Need to bring back grammar schools, reduce uni intakes to the real professions, probably 15% of what there is now and mainstream vocational training at 13+ No reason the non doctors, lawyers, dentists etc cant have learned the first 3 years of a trade by the time they are 16 instead of leaving school thinking they can be a social media millionaire when in reality they are already on the scrap heap and just don't know it. most politicians are the same as teachers, went to school, then uni, then into politics/education. No clue whatsoever about the real world. It's unfixable now the left have infected all areas of life with alphabet gender bollox, full time dole etc etc , there will be social unrest at some point and a reset.
