  1. EPS miles better than celotex for floor, yes you have a little more buildup to allow for but you can get 300mm of xps for same price as 100mm celotex.
  2. this. you have a cold roof with no ventilation. will rot out in no time unless its addressed. Photo of the outside ? eaves and abutment vents, min 50mm gap maintained to allow an airflow etc The lantern upstand needs the same amount of U value insulation as the rest but doesn't look like they have been designed deep enough (they never are). Best stop and correct it now rather than have to rip it all out when the mould patches start appearing.
  3. maybe. nothing guaranteed. until china stops with its coal powered fire stations we should be pausing everything anyway as its pointless.
  4. err no. BCO applies NHBC rules, never seen them go against NHBC ever. Have you ?
  5. more dodgy math. according to your chart 2021 price is $0.21/w. show me where I can buy a 400w panel for £68 ? lala land.
  6. had exactly the same experience. Not found any of the firms who will go less than 12k for a 3k heatpump and 2k of cylinder and fittings. Ask them to breakdown the costs and they wont or you never hear back as its easier for them to scam the next unsuspecting punter. Going direct with city plumbing and plumber used before, may be a bit trial and error but at least not being ripped off by supposed 'MCS'. Solar was exactly the same when it came out, now there is no FIT and MCS its cheap.
  7. i am but working round all its limitations to minimise the negatives as much as possible. looking to be 10 - 15x more expensive to install than a gas boiler.
  8. its just not for a family with 3 teens. Not interested in micro showers and cold water!
  9. just to correct you, 45 degree is allowed for by NHBC. Not sure why you getting so prim about it.
  10. technically chambers are needed at changes in direction. could be installed correctly with a couple 45degree elbows on the in and out. main run is lower for a reason no sure what you dont understand about that.
  11. 10l flow is pathetic. may as well use a bucket and cloth! double that. very expensive to heat on demand in daytime so not a good idea, you want to aim for overnight heating at cheap rate and have enough hot water to last through the day at a realistic usage. No way would a single tank be enough for a family with teenagers. remember ASHP cant do heating and hot water at same time either. The only thing going for ASHP over a gas boiler is its cheaper to run, everything else is a negative.
  12. be good in the summer though for AC mode.
  13. be surprised if you dont get pushback from planning as its massive compared to either side, sticks out like a sore thumb.
  14. may get away with it not blocking over time if a bath/shower/mwashing machine is connected but if just a bog the turds will drop in the middle back and wont get washed away. BCO should fail it....
  15. 30k! What's it made out of ?
  16. concrete it in place. you can use bends to drop into it if you really have too. It's currently connected up incorrectly as well, the main flow needs to connect to the middle (middle is lower)not the sides, will then need a 45 i suspect to connect the outlet.
  17. make room for at least 2 tanks unless you enjoy cold showers.
  18. your pissing heat out the building somewhere. arent you curious where ?
  19. jeez thats ASHP install rip off territory
  20. zero guarding, no bracing. hope H&S lock you up.
  21. dont do it. One thing risking your own life on it but another for a trade. not one of the corners to be cut.
  22. stringline is your friend!
  23. this is labour rates for pricing a job not an odd day here and there.
  24. is this worth looking at with MVHR to ensure what's in the house is actually what's expected ? Any kit to look at ?
