I used a Vitrex Ultimate Diamond Blade when I had my tile cutter. I used a few over the years for roof tiles, porcelain floor tiles and sandstone paving with no problem.

We had 200mm type1, 70mm asphalt, 20mm resin bound gravel.

Shower Screen Leaks and Bath Problems
Gone West replied to Listless's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
On the last one I fitted I trimmed the rubber/plastic seal strip on the bottom of the door so it also went under the hinge filling the gap. -
We've just bought a bungalow with PVs and ST installed. Both of the previous owners unfortunately died last year so it was a probate sale. We found out various bits of information from the LA Building Control office and the executors. The good news is our PVs were installed in 2012 so attract a high FiT rate and the bad news is they are registered with SSE who are very slow at transferring them into our name.

How does your garden grow?
Gone West replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
I thought about making my own, but couldn't be bothered, so bought some from Everedge. https://www.everedge.co.uk/product/garden-rings/ -
On my timber cladding I ran it down in front of the reveal and left a 3mm gap between the reveal edge and the cladding as a drip gap.

I dismantled our old timber clad, timber frame bungalow a few years ago and all the timber was taken after I put it on Freegle. All the rubble was crushed and used on site.

That looks a tidy job, well done. Your level of experience is growing nicely now.

I was in East Kent at the time. The LPA didn't have a say in the matter as I was planting it as a barrier between my front and back gardens.

We used Eleagnus at our last place. It's evergreen, has tiny very fragrant flowers and then berries. It's easy to control but grows quite fast. https://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/oleaster-elaeagnus-x-ebbingei.html

French drain/gravel under cladding

I used galvanised steel edging for that purpose in my last house. https://www.everedge.co.uk/product/halestem/ -

The water only needs to be heated to 65C/70C once a week for protection. I used an EASHP in my last house and heated the water to 45C and lived there for three years without problems. I had a thermostatic mixer on my bath supply as per the regulations. As has already been said Legionella controls in houses are IMHO unnecessary.

When we recently sold our PH the estate agent admitted he found it difficult to value because there are so few around. We had a lot of interest and we had had offers straightaway. We ended up with three lots of buyers who all wanted to buy it because it was a PH. They were bidding against each other and it ended up selling for substantially more than the asking price. The asking price was more than my own valuation. I suspect the Stamp Duty holiday was a major factor in the large number of buyers.

They seem to be. We had three lots of buyers who were all interested in buying it because it was a PH. It went to a bidding war in the end, which was nice for us, but crazy.

Only just by a few hundred yards.

Where we are a short stretch of the boundary is the River Deer.

Same as Bude is in Cornwall. TBH I copied your location but with my own twist .

We’ve finally moved house and are happily ensconced in our bungalow making all the hassle worth it. It took nine months in the end to complete the conveyancing. The position of the bungalow and the views are amazing and exactly what we wanted. The sale, though not going through as quickly as we would have liked, did result in making an extra wadge of cash. The housing market was crazy during the time we were selling. There’s plenty of work to do here though so my taking it easy for the last couple of years has come to an abrupt end. We do miss our previous house but it’s nice to be away from the SE. I’ll soon be posting questions about our garage which is a mess and seems unsafe to me. Thanks, I took my blog down because of the sale. It's a bit of a trek down here, 300 miles from Dover, but you're very welcome.

We have sold our house and are moving in the near future. There is a lot to sort out so won't be on here for a while but hopefully will come back at some time with questions and contributions. Good luck to all with their projects.

That is a beast for sure

The local farmer used a vibrating roller when compacting the driveway of the converted barn next door. Bloody noisy it was too. https://www.hirestation.co.uk/tool-hire/Compaction/Vibrating-Roller-Hire/050070/

Looking at the steps going down there are different levels so are the concrete panels acting as retaining walls.

Replacement for Exhaust Heat Recovery System
Gone West replied to chrisru's topic in Other Heating Systems
In my system the EASHP removes heat from the exhaust air after the heat exchanger has recovered the heat from the extracted air and as a result the air leaving the vent is very cold. Our EASHP is rated at 585W and with a good CoP can deliver a reasonable amount of heat but not enough to heat the house in the winter. Used in conjunction with extracted air from warm bathrooms it is sufficient to maintain 23C in our small house (130m2).
