Well it depends ..!! That cast plug looks shot to bits so good luck getting it out ... cctv is fairly pointless unless you know where it goes but what I would do is put a camera in it to start with - break out the plug if you have to as the drop bend will be full of #%€< and then get hold of a signal gennie ("mouse type") and use a CAT to follow it too. It could save you thousands but only if it's in the right place and only if your sewerage provider say you can connect ..!! have you done a drainage survey of the area as part of the planning ..?? It should show up if it is still active. (mouse gennie is also known as a sonde....)

It's an interceptor running to a sewer, most likely the end house on the run. http://www.draindomain.com/interceptor traps.html

The issue as always is enforcement. Council EHOs were cut back to the bone (non essential service) and they are the ones you need for stat nuisance. The second is fuel - you can have the best defra approved stove in the world but unless you burn the defra specified fuel it will not be smokeless. We have "forgotten" how to cut and season wood, and these are a lifestyle choice these days for a majority. I've already cut and stacked the timber for next year (felled in September) yet the footings aren't even in ..!! Most likely that will get burned in Feb 2018 so 18 months to season. Understanding moisture in timber is one thing, finding a supplier who does is something else especially when it comes at a price ...

Cleaning Runoff from Anti-Climb Paint

Autoglym tar spot remover followed by 2 coats across the frame of the plastic treatment assuming you can get it. Don't use car polish as it will get into the grain and go white. -

So change builders. Or he provides you with invoices. Either answer to that is probably not one you want to hear but if you don't go by the book then HMRC will just come after you for what he technically should be paying anyway. -
Quick question then ... seen the external (CW..?) glands came with two nuts not one and the picture on the bag showed one either side of the earth tab. Is that for insulated or plastic boxes in place of a piranha ..??

Just check its WRAS compliant as it may be food safe but that won't count ..! But as @JSHarris says, will they check ..?!

Tonight's surreal comment ... ".. you don't get what you want with selfbuild you have to compromise...." I thought that's the reason for self building ..??!!

So just checked and section 4 is about temporary buildings for any reason. What cannot happen though is those temporary buildings be commuted to being permanent under the regs as far as I can see.. where is @Sensus when you need him ...?- 35 replies

What are you going to use to manage the hysteresis on the flow valves ...?? On/off is a bit binary, would you not be better using a motorized valve using PMW based on flow ..?? One valve 1/2 open which allows your basins etc to flow but then the second can modulate in before they both go full bore ..?? Thoughts ..?

Check his PP on the portal - it should show you under what terms planning was granted and then you can challenge it if you really want that battle. From memory you cannot put accommodation onto an agricultural holding as it constitutes a change of use in its own right regardless of whether it is in line with GPDO.- 35 replies

AFAIK you cannot fit them anymore anyway - any new TP needs a certificate or approval from the EA in England and Wales

Most likely the leach field is shot by now - 10 years and they start to become inefficient. When you say you are digging past are you sure you aren't hitting the leach field..? Is there any reason you couldn't put a shared system in..? reduce the cost for both of you effectively..?

Yep to start with ..! Interesting way of doing it too - shows that things move on and it makes a very neat install.

Just out of interest how big are they..??! Splitting green is easy - let it dry even a couple of months and it will tighten up so worth while doing it as soon as practical.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes sense now ! Cheers @Onoff...! Supplier may be of use although I'm doing the buying as he's on install labour only And I now get the reference to CPC's, it was the CPCS bit that threw me ...!

OK so the bus bar pitch is the same as normal..? How does that work with the neutral that normally is to one side of the line ...? I can see how if they are "stacked" then the line can hit the isolator correctly - do they come with bus bars to match..? And whats a CPCS..??? As its not a Construction Plant Competence Scheme....

No - but they can let you dump to a cesspool if its only for Elsan emptying. Thetford Bloo and the other liquids will knock out a treatment plant or septic tank although there is no requirement for the emptying point to be any more than just that, a secure container for emptying waste.....

Oh and unless you're a double jointed 6'8" giant - don't buy one of these ...!!! Waste of money and very slow. Safety Saw Horse

So..... If you go down the chainsaw route, get the gear and always wear it - no exceptions ! If you buy one of those log saws then get the same chainsaw gear as I've seen them hit nails in timber and they spit teeth at speed !!!!! They are also pretty useless at anything over 140mm so I would be surprised if your supplier sent anything under 150mm/6" as its just not that viable as firewood. I would get a TecTake rack - they are great and you can cut a lot of logs pretty quickly with a decent chainsaw. If you aren't overly happy with sharpening a saw then get one with the Oregon PowerSharp bar. These are a little pricey (although a B&Q chainsaw comes with one !) and they sharpen on the bar. Most of the splitters are the same when they are less than £250, but try and get one that is reasonably tall unless you want to sit on the floor surrounded by logs...

Ok so what is the alternative...? Pair of single block Henleys..? Reason I ask is that is what we have fitted in line with 17th Edition so if there is something wrong I'd like to know before the meter is installed and before Amelie the seal fairy has to come and visit....
