  1. Tape - scrim tape (item 1...) as the other stuff is packinrg tape as @Nickfromwales said. This is what you need. Scrim tape
  2. Tape needs to be clean and new and goes on just before the plaster or it will start falling off. If you are getting materials for the spreads then buy a new roll but don’t put it on, or just let him bring his own as @Nickfromwales said.....
  3. What is it made of ..? Sounds like a communication pipe and it may be ST responsibility to repair. Out of interest where is your supply as it’s not drawn on there ..? And by ST Main do you mean sewer ..?
  4. Let it go off 24 hrs and it will be like rock... next time, a 2 litre milk container is ideal for measuring the liquid as it will be about right for mixing enough for you to lay tiles before it starts to go off. 1 litre isn’t enough for using a whisk on the mixer. Also have a look in Asda as they have 10 litre flexi tubs for £1 - ideal for mixing adhesive and have 2 or three on the go on in various states of dry/set/clean...
  5. Are those hoses UV stabilised ..?? Assuming this is supposed to live below the lid, you may want to cover them with some sort of conduit.
  6. Get a plasterer... end of...
  7. Three IBCs is change of £120, pipes and pumps are £250, all told you should see change from £500... Payback is now less than 5 years ...
  8. Get two bags of multi and you will have plenty - nothing worse than getting half way through a set and running out !
  9. Greywater and rainwater are two different things. Mixing them is not a good idea but essentially you need to decide if you go the rainwater route, what do you want to use it for and how much filtration etc you want to do. Also need to decide on a gravity vs pumped system and if it’s for eco reasons or financial ones ...
  10. So Hanson who make that stuff for a lot of the sheds have a couple of different blending locations - one is near Lincolnshire and uses the yellow/grey sand from round there and another uses a red sand that’s more orange / pink Bunter sandstone coloured. The downside is it can depend on which factory supplied which warehouse as you can get different blends in the same store. Across the East Midlands if you go east of the A1 it tends to be yellow sand, West is red sand - have to be careful with some of the merchants too as they send what they feel like unless you specify ..!
  11. Yep And it’s pretty much anything to anything ...! You normally tile under the pan anyway so it’s ceramic to porcelain/ceramic/stone etc
  12. So if you prod them quick do they switch on and off on a normal receiver ..?? Just thinking that using just dimmers would make sense as they can never fail “on”.
  13. Local council BCOs can be really hit and miss - and round here they are mostly miss.... Three authorities have pooled building control so you can get one of 8 or 9 inspectors and I’ve heard from a couple of builders that despite saying they will do a “call by 12, out next day” service they have had BCOs not turn up for 48 hours and have had to cancel concrete pours. In the big scheme of things, paying £3-400 more for an attentive service that gives you what you need when you need it is worth it. I regularly email photos to a BCO to save him coming out twice and he happily signs off any items that are marked as defect on warranty reports from emails and photos where he can see it’s been completed. I don’t know of any councils that do that ..?
  14. Up to starting inspections you can change but once started you will struggle. And I wouldn’t swap the one we use even if they doubled the price ..!!
  15. A sealed TS Is an odd one as it will need a fair number of controls I agree but they are pretty much sold as a tin can with holes in. Any sealed circuit would need its own T&E valves etc and expansion vessels. But yes, I can see how you would need them although the majority seem to be sold as open pipe.
  16. Thermal store doesn’t need an expansion vessel or zone valve - only needed on a UVC.
  17. Don’t forget that a Telford cylinder comes with everything inc valves and expansion vessels where needed That on a 500 litre UVC can be worth £150+ in bits
  18. The Wickes one I have is the weapon of choice for quick tasks where power isn't needed as much. It's plenty powerful enough for sticking plugs and screws into walls and is light enough to put into a pocket Best advice is find your local Wickes and go pick them up. Also don't be afraid to ask Screwfix to let you open the boxes - ironically that's how I found out my saw was missing a part before I bought it...
  19. Through experience over the past few years, the only departments in local councils that have had their budgets ring fences - and usually increased - is the legal department. A short letter to the council solicitor outlining your concerns that not only is there a breach of the T&CPA, but the council is unwilling to enact its statutory duty (as the enforcer of the T&CPA) should galvanise them into action as that is a direct reason for the LGO to get involved and councils do not need that sort of hassle ..! It will probably get you removed from your local planning officers Christmas card list, and you need to make sure your own build is squeaky clean, but it will get a reaction ...
  20. Nearly identical to the Wickes one I have - and the battery is interchangeable with the Makita that is 4 times the price ..! In fact if you look closely at it, it’s nearly a clone of the Makita....
  21. Just on the Baxi Megaflo- they seem to have a much better QC process than a few of the others as we recently had a main board fail and couldn’t get one for 2 weeks as Baxi had rejected the previous batches and binned the supplier due to poor quality. Basically every supplier in the UK then went to back order..!! They were failing at the 3-4 year point and Baxi said that was unacceptable. I know of other brands with the same issue (and same board....) and they are still failing ... The difference is that Baxi have a real set of people to talk to, and understand customer service.
  22. I’ve got something similar on site - will take a couple of photos for you. Bear in mind that 28w led will be very bright ..!!!
  23. I use Screwfix cheapest Mapei adhesive - £9.99 a bag
  24. Needs something cement based in the gaps so a bag of cheap adhesive would be good to fill the gaps.
  25. I’d consider not making the gas boiler direct and add an indirect coil as it will keep the boiler heat exchanger cleaner and you can use a system boiler. Can you not ditch the PHE and go for a DHW coil as then there are no moving parts and no need for flow switches etc. You can also get Inta mag filters from BES for about £40
