  1. This is indeed where we are . HA has been slow progress over the years . Average person doesn’t really care - the novelty of turning a light on from your phone or Alexa is about the limit . But ; ultimately- this is where we are heading . I wish ( as others ) to retain control I.e no or little cloud based .
  2. Perfection ! . Strap a raspberry pi to it and write some ‘swear ‘ code . A dream !
  3. I want robot / androids . Things I can shout abuse at without response . Things I can torment for pleasure . Slaves to my whims . A future of passive machines to humour me .
  4. Started on this beast. 1500 tiles of pain. But starting to look like some wall from Game of Thrones " You Shall not pass!!"
  5. Oh yes. For the love of God take all my money to have this in my house!
  6. This reads like a shopping list of fun and frustration too me! Lighting - I use qubino wave din CCTV - BlueIris on PC seems like the dogs! Internal security. You mean like face recognition to stop SWMBO entering man cave. Or some video analysis of who opened your wine? . Yes; all this needs to be done. Heating. Again I link fibaro z wave relays to my homeseer hub MVHR/ASHP - BOTH! audio in house. Raspberry pi with max2play - one running it is set and forget. Until you fiddle with it and break it.... Visuals. Depends big FO TV in lounge. TVBed in bedroom with PS5 - for when extra bedroom fun is required Smart blinds - I didn't bother with. Only have 1 blind in the build so couldn't be arsed to automate it Smoke/Heat though I haven't installed will be a separate system. Not keen on automating say with Homeseer. Windows does an update, so homeseer doesn't boot. Then there's a fire and I burn to death because "Windows has to do an update ". Maybe overkill (no pun intended ) Other things you WANT RoboRock S7 with auto empty dust collector ( have to get that direct from China for the moment ) FrontDoor with finger scanner - for when you are too lazy to get the key out. Works very well ( bit of a dog when your finger is wet ). Also SWMBO 'suffers' using it. The complete inability to consistently move 1 finger at a constant rate across a sensor alludes her much to my pleasure. Video doorbell/intercom. I use Doorbird because it's open API and can therefore interface with anything. Currently when my doorbell rings we get the death tune from C64 Master of magic playing which SWMBO hates with an absolute passion. Notification sent to my phone and any active iPads in the house. Then I can talk to fool at my door or indeed unlock it and let them in . Robot grass cutter - I will if we have any grass! Geo-fencing off phone or air tag or similar EV charger - you know you need to do this. So much fun. So much money to spend. So much to go wrong. But the joy!
  7. My MVHR works surprisingly well when the humidity gets too high i.e. shower/bath and automatically boosts. If it didn't or was too slow it has a bypass to trigger boost that could be linked to a sensor in the bathroom ( I have Aeon multi sensors - which record a range of functions e.g. humidity, light etc. etc ). Automation is good and does work ( though not 100% of course! ). BUT!; if you are not technical or it's just "not your thing" then yes keep it as simple as possible.
  8. I have wee coloured grout - gladly swap for pink
  9. No probs I.e no cracked tiles ? I always think … mat 3mm , notch 6mm . So 10 ish - but when compressed etc . more like 6mm.
  10. There’s the problem then ????
  11. As a landlord myself his ‘actions’ seem poor . As @epsilonGreedy states it Is a major landlord obligation to have basics e.g heating working . My local council allow a major utility fail to be ‘ok’ for upto 3 days . I always interpret this to mean “ providing the LL has but some action in place to fix it “ . When this happens to my property and the engineer can’t arrive soon enough or we’re waiting on a part I give my tenants electric heaters so they don’t freeze . I also don’t have 1 point of failure for everything I.e boiler fails so no heating , no hot water , no shower … is no good imho …
  12. DNO says 20% VAT is applicable if it's an upgrade ?
  13. F*ck 'em and be damned. When you are up against it to dance to someone else's tune. You do what you need to do to survive. I've been in plenty of tight spots ( not with my build ) and admittedly cut corners , take risk because the alternative is worse. So you might get a slap on the hand from BCO so the (expletive deleted) what. You have more important things to worry about.
  14. Can’t duct cable into property underground. Allowed above ground ??
  15. Sex offenders register?
  16. If I have single phase already is the costing just the addition of 2 extra phases????
  17. Don't care KW, Kw, kW, K-W , KKWW, KKKWWW KAUU - whatever!
  18. I think I've been told some porkies, some mis-information and indeed mix that up with my lack of understanding creates a rubbish brain soup. 3 phase solves the issues also might not work out that much more expensive. I was told SE would be a more expensive install than simply strapping another PW on. So the 3 phase cost might effectively lessen again if going down the PW route... I just want lots of batteries so I can sell my electric to my neighbours at vastly inflated rates! ?
  19. Absolutely. My assumption is she's just looked at a google earth view and done street to door. As I have underground complex and driveway infront and assuming cable can run over these the 'dig' length can be reduced substantially...
  20. Yeah probably me mis-understanding. I guess I should say my total number of inverters connected to the grid can not exceed 8kw of export. I think that's right.....
  21. Yeah . We all know about kryton given all the Tesla goodies for free .
  22. Had a brilliant phoncecall with DNO. Now I understand. The issue is I have 2 inverters that can export . PV and the Tesla PW one. So my theoretical maximum output is 8kw. I'm simply not allowed anymore. So.... Options are a SE battery or similar which goes into the PV inverter i.e. DNO don't care. Or maybe back looking at 3 phase. I went back to the DNO for a 3 phase install estimate. I have no detail ( presume length of run is a cost ) so *assume* she did street to front door ( but there are a few tricks I can do there ) and she said 6k inc vat. Assume VAT is 20% on these things so can knock that off. Also can a mains cable i.e. the 3 phase be above ground? ( obviously in some armoured conduit ). I can't drill into underground mega complex but I can take a cable across the front and conveniently through an existing hole in the above ground structure that practically everything currently runs through. I assume 3 phase solves all my issues. I can just stick a new PW2 on a different phase. Indeed I could have 3 PW2 - could I not? She knew of no-one with 2 PW - well love, POCSTER is now in town!
  23. End contract with builder early to solve his liability issue . You then take out insurance to live on site in an incomplete dwelling . This type of insurance is more expensive I have it and I think @ProDave does also . All problems solved ! I did it this way also because I didn’t fancy bankruptcy either ?
  24. As I’m the builder and the last conversation I had with bco was asking when they needed to come and inspect next . They replied “ when finished “ . Not finished , so …….. ?
