  1. now go and put in planning permission
  2. I offered them 100 quid a month to spy on you and report back too me .
  3. No you can't. But this is vindictive. She won't take a parcel in for me ; even delivery driver says "she hates you ". I appreciate it's their right to refuse it. I did suggest to open reach to get a drone and fly it over - as a serious suggestion. Apparently they only do that in Scotland - I guess due to the nature of the landscape. Still. When their driveways blocked or a parcel comes for them - you can only imagine my glee ....
  4. As everyone hates me ; simple things become small battles. We require fibre internet. There's a pole available but on the otherwise of a neighbouring property. This would require attaching to the pole and then walking the cable across the neighbours land to attach to a pole in our garden. It should be noted they already have a cable at similar height running along their rear and above window height. So the visual impact of another cable would be negligible . Anyway the BITCH won't give them access as a malicious dig at me. So we go the only other available route. Digging up the lane to get the fibre to my boundary. This means of course cutting across outside their driveway and one would assume would be more inconvenient . When will my neighbours learn; the more they try and stop me the more chance I have of success . They are still (expletive deleted) though of course ?
  5. One step ahead of you @ProDave ( though appreciate your input ) we are having “ Swindon office “ type ceiling tiles - so all pipework ( good and bad ) accessible. No boxing in for me ! Chicken curry tonight
  6. As a complete non expert but I've bought maybe 40 properties in my lifetime. This looks like it could be fantastic but also a complete money sucking hole. I guess ( if it's ok to ask ) what budget i.e. cash do you actually have?
  7. ? don't know. Don't care. Last thing BC said too me was to call them when it's finished. During the entire build they have effectively checked ZERO even when I call them out at ( what I think! ) are important points.
  8. Fitted the mcalphine . Seems a much better fit. Rubber seems much thicker ( SWMBO told me about this ). Had a slight leak on my glued pipework ; up a ladder , limited view, limited light so will forgive myself. Tiger sealed around those joints. So full test tomorrow when SWMBO showers. Also 'cheated' a bit ( but again will forgive myself as accessible ) and fitted a flexicon onto the new pipework again to make my life a bit easier. So so far looking promising!!! Forgot!. Tightening the actual trap to the tray (from above ) about a million times easier than the previous trap. Easy to grip; lots of thread - so much better!
  9. Ldmfd r13!, { r9-r10 } what hard cock men do !
  10. Or tracking a single blood cell until it reaches your heart ( debug break point on memory access ) - needle in a haystack fun .. ? . Real man stuff ???????
  11. A non technical person I worked with asked me if the debugger fixed the code . Like I write crap code ; click “ write commercial soccer game “ pops out the end . When I explained it’s like stopping your body then monitoring every blood cell anywhere at any point he couldn’t believe it ….
  12. You’ve fallen into the trap ! ” I learn the language I know what to do “ linked lists - a beautiful concept . sort algorithms ( until they are too slow ) path finding MPEG ( recursive macro block degeneration) C , python , bbc basic doesn’t matter !!!! Thats where the learning is ( and a million other things ) the language becomes irrelevant to some extent . ?
  13. It’s all still a mess . I hate modern shite . Rest api etc. Etc . Old tech with new tech with latest tech , will Apple push tech ( AppleTalk anyone ? ) , with Samsung best tech with Microsoft we are the best . Bloat ware on top of bloat ware . Competing companies don’t communicate to co exist . Never have and never will because it’s not in their individual interest .
  14. For the record . Writing commercial computer games is 1 million times more complex than building a house . Both things I have done .
  15. @SteamyTea unless you are a software engineer- you won’t appreciate how complex things are . putting 10 numbers in order ( bubble sort for example ) path finding from a to b ( dystrias a star algorithm) I can list a million things … worst still is when those are too slow because you need to do them 100k a second . Nothing is easy on a computer . Clicking “ do it “ is easy . Even the code to allow a click , debounce it , repeat etc . Is a lot of work . Software engineering is like god ( not intended to sound arrogant ) you need to design and allow for everything…
  16. That’s because it isn’t that simple ….
  17. Yes . That’s why I was asking ! . I will obviously go and see one . I was asking for someone who has one to comment ; I did say “ I assume “ ….
  18. Turn it on ? . I want to know ( I assume ! ) it looks obvious it’s not a real flame .
  19. Best route imho is cat 5 to everything . Then you have all options available for current and future technologies. Then a generic HA control system e.g fibaro Hc , HomeSeer etc etc .
  20. I have a SWMBO that can’t use a light switch - does me head in . HA solves it
