  1. Shhhhhhhh . Framed tile system SE costs = 0 ( that’s less than 25 quid 😉 )
  2. Don’t know . I , like you , will stick a speaker in and find out . If it’s an issue I’ll bolt some kind of timber support off my beam n block . For a “ tv room” I really wouldn’t worry about how the ceiling looks . Decent lights , nice speakers - who is really going to care or comment ? . Saves you tons of headache and gives you access to everything.
  3. Mate ! I know (expletive deleted) all Yet I am ( still ) building a mostly underground house with all the issues that entails . Ignorance is bliss . Many have said “ you don’t know what you don’t know “ If I had understood everything from the start then a) I’m a seasoned pro and it’s easy b) (expletive deleted) that ! 😁😎 . What’s life without adventure and risk ? ( ignoring all the shit bits of course ) .
  4. Thought you were doing the whole basement with a drop ceiling ?? - why just this 1 room ?
  5. Yes . Buts it’s f all . Wire is roughly every 2metres . Frame weighs f all . Tiles are lightweight and their load is spread over the frame and other wires .
  6. What’s the cost estimate for your ceiling ? Timber , pb , skim , paint ? Your area slightly larger than mine I believe
  7. Yes ! But with nice simple hammer in bolts and wire …
  8. @Thorfun . You know what to do . Avoid all this fuss and extra cost and go with the obvious and easy solution .
  9. And noise in the other direction 😉
  10. Yeah I know . Everyone’s a programmer but no one’s a software engineer these days …..
  11. @ToughButterCup no pressure now ! . But we are all expecting perfect holes and photos to prove it 😁. Failing that a photo of the (expletive deleted) up is just fine .
  12. In my experience they just want payment asap and sometimes even think they’ve done a good job when it plainly is shite .
  13. I’ve tried that a few times . Try to be super accurate with measurements on both sides . How far out could I be ? A few mm ?. Nah ; (expletive deleted)ing miles !
  14. What I really want is no ToU but all logic based . If SE.battery < 60% then SE.discharge () endif Or whatever shitty high level language numpty world is currently using .
  15. Actually- I thought about what you posted . It is success through failure . The biggest obstacle in life is yourself . Contrary to what others may believe from my posts I punish myself far more for errors or when something isn’t “ quite good enough “ ( but in fairness is better than most trades ) . It’s an attitude that one must take through life . Trying , failing, taking risk , failing ; sometimes success ! Must go and talk to my shrink now .
  16. You saying I’m an absolute failure ? 😢😉
  17. I had no experience or knowledge. My architect had no experience or knowledge. Yet here I am 😊 You got this ! Plans please !!! 👍
  18. It’s funny how something apparently relatively simple requires some over thinking . That’s not a criticism! . I can mull a ‘simple’ problem for hours /days/weeks/years . Then what tends to happen is either it was easier than I thought or I (expletive deleted) it up .
  19. My bad 🙄
  20. That work for me also ????
  21. As incredible as it sounds when I was a teenager I would go with my dad on jobs ( yes I learnt nothing ) . Once I recall at airbus we had to core a 3 metre hole ( tunnel more like ) at a specific angle through reinforced concrete . Rig bolted to wall . Drill back then was mofo heavy and needed 2 of us to get it up there . Took our time ( water pumped to the tip ) . Would have taken a few hours . But we took all day so my old man could charge 3k ! - that must of been 35 yrs ago . But no one else could achieve that and certainly not at that price . It was super specialised gear at the time . I got paid 30 quid 🙄🤣
