  1. Some job.
  2. FM330 is great foam, unfortunately I am struggling to get it in Northern Ireland, and shipping prices are ridiculous from England it seems.
  3. @eandg Works out at unit price of £5 +vat per block (0.45 X 0.2m). Capping stones a similar price. This was summer 2020, invariably will be more expensive now. Then factor in the stone for initial base, filling cores and back filling.
  4. I am in the process of building one at the moment using Allanblock from Colinwell a local supplier. Attached is the guidance for their wall products. ab-residential-retaining-walls.pdf ABCommManual.pdf
  5. I only have 0.75 of an acre, not sure I can justify a fergie like you @joe90 never mind @IanR option or suggestions above.
  6. So many on marketplace etc hard to know what to touch. Don't want to spend big money as will probably invest in robot mower for the garden. Hopefully get a fence up at some point and sheep will take care of the paddock.
  7. @Olly P @Onoff I have a 0.75 acre field/paddock and have been mulching it once a year this last few years. Have looked at many countax/Westwood mowers potentially to tend a bit more to the field. What height of grass can they cope with? Can they stick a bit of abuse? Alternative is a tow behind atv flail mower, don't have an atv though.
  8. I used spray glue from Screwfix for aerogel on my corner window posts
  9. This intrigued me as I was going to build a face wall with sleepers. Can't convince wife to go horizontal with them though. I like the idea of the wall but burying 1/4 to 1/3 of the sleeper length doesn't warm my heart.
  10. Hi Joe Welcome from a co down member, there are a few 'locals' kicking about here. Hopefully you will have picked up we like blogs and photos.
  11. I totally get that but it is a studio in a garage so sucks to be the FIL ?
  12. Apologies I wasn't clear. Essentially the main switch needs swapping out with an RCD, currently there isnt one on the board or upstream protecting this board. Can an RCD be added from a different manufacturer than that of the existing MCB's?
  13. Was chatting to a spark about some additions to a garage consumer unit which has raised some questions. He gave me a confused picture and has now gone quiet. Garage consumer unit with 100A main switch and a 6A MCB light circuit and 32A MCB sockets. Upstream is only a 30A fuse. Course of action would be to swap main switch with a 40A (or greater) RCD. Potential for an additional socket ring to go in. Can RCD's and MCB's be mixed and matched in terms of manufacturer? Current board is all mk and can't source any locally.
  14. Thanks for the prompt reply. Does such a thing as a 2 gang fcu exist, couldn't find one on a quick Google.
  15. Switched fcu with what size fuse?
  16. I understand a standard ring circuit wiring. However if one double socket on that ring was at a high level and 'user' (substitute for FIL) wanted it switched by a light switch, how is this done? 20A switch placed into the ring with switched live out to said socket? Perhaps one @Onoff@ProDave can answer quickly?
  17. I managed mine in NI @Conor after a brief flirt with a main contractor. Most of it is common sense with regular visits to site to keep an eye on things. No heavy inductions more a don't take the piss lads by taking shortcuts. I did fall foul of the HSE re scaffolding when roofing, bought scaffolding and got the nod again.
  18. On my third proboil unit now. First one packed in last aug after a year, like yours failed to heat. Replaced like for like under warranty. Very recently the replacement started to leak, not immediately evident where. Replaced again under warranty with a 2x. Not sure about yours but mine siphons back from the tap.
  19. That's what they will tell you for now. The same thing happened with me and then they became more persistent, to the point they came out and measured before the floors were even in. At that point they issued me a bill and explained the developers rights that were applicable for 12 months unless I moved in or sold the property. The bill was for a number of weeks at the end of the rateable period which fell after developers rights would have expired. What pissed me off was they in effect started the developers rights from a place in time when the house was not signed off never mind habitable. In the end I didnt pursue the issue as I was moved in by the time the billing period came into effect, albeit still not signed off.
  20. Being discussed on BBC Radio Ulster also. Jackie Weaver being compared to Carole Baskin of Tiger King fame.
  21. @paulc313 it is stoneer cladding 30mm thick or so. I got it from McMonagle Stone an Irish based company (I am in NI) https://www.mcmonaglestone.com/ @Declan52 has used a different variety from them as well.
  22. A broken light bulb was the best I heard from a friend that is a radiographer.
  23. @joe90 thanks for that makes it look easy I suspect. Certainly easier when free like that, than half buried. Dad now tells me the bottom of the exposed pipe is a 90 bend with pipe travelling horizontal to the left in floor. Branched off the bath supply I suspect.
  24. Dad did ask me the same but I have no experience of bending springs. Do you think it is a viable option?
  25. Maybe my description was incorrect, a close coupled full back to wall toilet. My understanding being the waste and water supply can still both come vertical from floor. That all said it's the supply water is the issue.
