  1. I wonder...could you paint a liquid DPM onto foil faced boards to guard against any reaction?
  2. No remote on this old speaker kit. It works well enough I think though. I can adjust the volume up/down within the required range via the TV remote. The only issue is if on mute there is a soft (as opposed to harsh) hiss comes from the speakers.
  3. It's called frost "heave". You can protect against it I believe by wrapping in EPS.
  4. Cheers. Cat shot out of the room when I first turned it on. Going through the TV sound menu and I first had the 3.5mm output set to LINEOUT. Beyond deafening and then some! I've set it on HEADPHONE ONLY now and it's controllable. I wonder if LINEOUT would be better in any way? I'd need that 4-gang pot between the TV and amp I reckon though. I always thought that headphone out was amplified and lineout wasn't i.e at a lower level and a subsequent amp did the work? What I'm seeing with this set up seems ar5e about face.
  5. Just used a straight 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead from telly to speaker. Sounds surprisingly good! Need some satin black spray paint for the speakers and to hide the wires! Call me Mr Cheapseats, oh yeah!
  6. As mentioned earlier in the thread my first thoughts were roughly: 1 - Boiler room / conservatory 2 - Kitchen 3 - Lounge* 4 - Diner* 5 - Bedroom 6 - Bathroom 7 - Study area *Looking to knock through properly the lounge and diner rather than partially as is now. Maybe I can get away with one loop? Floor area of the two combined rooms would be approx. 30m2. So 6 or 7 ports. Would this attach to the manifold you have? Cheers
  7. So all I need to do is dig this floor up now! (The one that's half carpeted in blue tiles): I'm really not sure what to do with the bit of the original floor under the bottom landing? The plan is to dig down like I did in the bathroom and rebuild back up with 150mm of pir. So from the top. Carpet 100mm concrete slab 150mm pir DPM 25mm eps Sand blind Compacted Type 2 - 50mm min Of course I've to clear out and find a home for all this hoarded sh!t first!
  8. 2L of inhibitor added. Adding the second to last 500ml and I forgot to fit the drain valve in the bottom of the mag filter! ?Luckily I had a bowl underneath where I'd just drained the filter into. I put the last 500ml of neat inhibitor in the mag filter and did it all back up. The 1L of liquid in the bowl, 500ml inhibitor + 500ml drained water, I just chucked into the F&E tank. Didn't want to waste it!
  9. No, it didn't, definitely not. Interesting comment here ?: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/cant-unscrew-intaklean-2-filter-lid.520710/
  10. Will do ? Amazed at how stiff the mag filter lid is to unscrew, a spanner job. Maybe because I'm doing it hot? I've smeared silicone grease around the threads and is tbh easier.
  11. Bent the ball valve arm down a bit in the F&E tank. Hopefully that'll stop it coming out of the overflow. Added the first dose of inhibitor just now. Can I not just add the inhibitor to the F&E tank?
  12. At least you've got "proper" doors! ? I had to get mine dead centre and dead square, these cheap doors are so thin.
  13. Is that top magnetic catch not dead central to the door?
  14. Won't be room for a shelf once the table and four chairs are in there.
  15. Still getting crud out, but to be expected I guess. More black than rusty mind. From what I've read, power flushing of single pipe systems has its limitations even if reversing the flush. Best way is rads off and hose out in the garden. Unscrewing the lid from the mag filter was a mission. Put a spanner on it in the end and a smear of silicone grease on the threads when it went back on. Not the best light for the photos: Not happy tbh connecting anything new, like UFH to this.
  16. Don't get your hopes up, she isn't! How often should I be pulling the filter? I pulled it I think 7 times before the power flush and of course it was caked, rotten. Once since. Less crud than all the other times but some. There's obviously a bit (of crud) still in the system judging by what's gone up into the F&E tank. He'll, I'll pull it once a week if it's a good idea. (I'll go pull the mag filter in a minute and post pics). I was debating whether I could dangle a swarf collector in the F&E tank wrapped in a plastic back and see what it attracts? https://cpc.farnell.com/evolution-powertools/cyclone/cyclone-magnetic-swarf-collector/dp/TL18867?
  17. Well after living with the cleaned system for nearly a week it seems we can have the stat down at least 7.5degC and still feel warm. Place seems to warm up quicker and rads are hotter. That being said the boiler still comes on frequently but I guess that's the heat loss via the fabric. I'll bend the float valve in the F&E tank tomorrow to stop it coming out the overflow. Then I'll add the inhibitor. Thanks btw to all who helped.
  18. A tube of clear CT1 is lighter than a tube of coloured CT1.
  19. Not sure. Would it be to maybe attenuate the headphone output into the amp? I'm just going to meter it out and chuck a 3.5mm stereo plug on one of the bare ends and plug in as though a 2 channel sound card.
  20. Managed to find all the bits. However, some idiot ? cut off the two line plugs years ago to use for something else no doubt... They should look like the SUB connection: So "he" now has to trace out what wire's what from the 4-gang pot!
  21. Get a man in and route slots in the concrete?
  22. Then cover with bfo silver trim.
  23. Guess who's getting RoughNeck tools for Christmas!
  24. Seriously, if you want 5L of it, no problem. The clever people on here will say whether it's OK. Cleans up elements a treat.
  25. I'd have thought @pocster was less of a black bath man and more into golden sho...
