See the lone, 16mm, pex-al-pex pipe with the taped over end, thats where my floor probe runs to: Peter gave it to me years ago...it's still not connected to anything but then neither is the UFH!

Screening Ideas to Block Chronic Curtain-Twitchers
Onoff replied to harry_angel's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
When Sarah Wellgreen went missing from near here the Police came and specifically asked for any road facing CCTV footage. Huge operation that was. Crap weather for the searchers and dogs too. Very courteous though as they came and asked permission to search on everyone's land here. -

I'd hazard a guess they're trying for a glimpse of Kim Basinger not you! ? -
My mate put a cheap 230V engine hoist in his loft, above the hatch.

Consider how you stop the beam trolley moving under load if the winch is offset. There are spring brake type things or it can be as simple as someone holding / tying off a rope to one side. The greater the fleet angle etc and you really don't want a load suddenly sliding/swinging sideways! Rather than an I beam you might consider a Met-Track ("Helm") type track from say Metreel up in Nottingham, aka "slotted channel" system. (Great company btw). Generic picture but it's really adaptable. I'd always fit bolted end stops...not even sure if they still do the old sandwich/clamp types... These can be hidden with pb or other ceiling panels butting up to the slot either side. You could even make a feature of the slot and illuminate it. You need to consider access for future maintenance on the trolley and rail fixings.

As an rank amateur I'd use a levelling clip system next time without a doubt. @pocster used them recently on here for his walls and floor and it all came out lovely and straight and level.

Ah the IoW, that exotic destination from better times! ? Won't be going anywhere this year, especially as SWMBO hasn't had her jabs yet. FINALLY coming round to the idea mind. What arrangement have you done for your pivot? I was half thinking instead of the home made 10mm, high temsile pins above, to say weld plates on the end of the channel with holes in. Then weld round bar say 24mm dia to just the angle. 24mm round bar sits in holes in the channel's end plates. I'm using angles but going to reinforce them with 1" box behind. Cheers
-
All change. I ditched the shop bought pinet hinges and made some on the lathe out of a couple of 8.8 bolts: A bit of fettling of the angle and channel before I weld them on.
-
I'll be bracing with 1" box section. Cos I've got stacks of it. As I have f**k all at the moment in the way of a folder, anything will be better than beating sheet with a hammer! ?

Would this be 3/4" nominal bore, old Imperial pipe? Most of my downstairs is done in that...

For you to know this you must have spent a fair time looking back at them? Maybe they think the same! ? -
Bonkers idea or a great idea?
Onoff replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
Tbh it's poisonous to kids and animals... potentially lethal I think. I only posted as it's also known as bunnies heads! ? -
No longer banned from the park then?

I'm thinking larkspur would be befitting along that bank... -
There it is in black and white! “the proper way to install a board is ridge side down”
-
Disagree all you like...pretty sure you're wrong! ? Tbh the ones to really comment are the board manufacturers themselves. Grooves in wooden decking, in my experience do little to aid grip anyway. They're just let's be honest troughs for moisture and debris to collect. @cwr check with the board supplier and let us know what they say.
-
Grooves down. They're there to aid air flow underneath and help prevent rot. It'll still be slippery. Paint with anti slip deck paint like this. It really works: https://www.toolstation.com/cuprinol-anti-slip-decking-stain-25l/p22463? I've heard the No Nonsense stuff is equally as good. Just redo it periodically.

Anyone know a good large format tile cutting company?
Onoff replied to hendriQ's topic in Wall Tiles & Tiling
Why not ditch those (silly, imo), long tile slivers and go with 316 polished stainless strips, 6mm thick. If say that's more doable. It'll be a bitch to do whatever. -
Are we finished yet?

What blew, the battery pack rather than the tool?

These links might assist: https://www.ageukmobility.co.uk/stairlift-advice/how-are-stairlifts-installed Plenty of pdfs on the web and YouTube vids: acorn-installation-manual.pdf 926.pdf My mate services them if you've any specific questions.

See what I mean, someone offering a powered armchair, stairlift and bath lift for free: https://www.gumtree.com/search?search_category=all&q=Stairlift&search_location=Scotland (The Knightswood ad)

You can pick them up for peanuts secondhand on Gumtree. Often you'll have to take tools and remove / transport it yourself. Can be pretty cheap too as people want shot of the memories etc...so turn that to your advantage. You may of course have to deal with a grieving family, telling you how Mum loved going up and down. They might also smell like when Brian Potter's packed up in the power cut... Or make one... Add rope or cheap engine hoist... ?

I'm thinking she's scratched the glazed porcelain is the issue? SWMBO here has used a DIY bath refinishing kit a couple of times at a previous house and tbh it came up well. Quite expensive and labour intensive. From memory you have to "sand" whatever it is you're going to paint. Then here in this place she changed the whole suite colour from advocado to white when we first moved in. Did the bath, bath panel, basin/pedestal and wc & cistern. This is mid rip out but give her her due it came up alright at the time. I think she even did the inside of the wc and it lasted. I'll look later. Think the pan is still in the garden being used as a quirky planter!
