It's exactly as you say, the PUR panels have a lower U value for the same width of panel. However most EPS supplier just have thicker panels. I have 169mm wall panels with 219mm roof panels, EPS from SIPSECO.

Had a look there thanks. Hadn't thought about looking at auctions. Doesn't seem to be high enough on the ones available unfortunately

Seen this on ebay....finishes tonight. It's 2 hours away...but trying to work out what it's actually worth, any ideas? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boss-Youngman-Aluminium-Scaffold-Tower-8-2-Metre-Height-/125015446431?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Such is life. They might have added some nails in too...but nothing has slid out yet! -
Lots of good advice here but definitely mull over beating yourself up too much @TryC it's difficult sometimes when you get a bad egg I'm and don't know till its too late, but we've all had one at some point don't worry too much you'll get it sorted and it'll be fine. It'll just take a little longer.

My roofers....(who have done an A1 job) just used CT1 to stick the slates in where the irons had been....don't be too precious and getbsone CT1 in there. -
Any hint on pricing when compared with the folks in germany?
-
Is it an insulated foundation? If so I didnt. I filled large gaps, but small ones are fine.
-
My insulated foundation from KORE had some variations between outer lengths and heights where they were cut but in building it I just filled with foam and cut the final block. The inner section which was all boards I staggered joins as I had three layers but those ones were pretty decent tolerances. As long as you stick to the overall dimensions you require it'll be fine.

Custom Aluminium Window Cill Extensions...

Any fabrication shop can make what you need likely. I had custom trims made for around my insulated slab, which had 3 bends. -
You need to provide more detail so people can make a recommendation.

PV and Battery to power security camera options

Reolink do 4G cameras with batterys and solar panels. Works very well. I use them at my site. https://m.reolink.com/gb/product/reolink-go/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA4b2MBhD2ARIsAIrcB-TqellL423gqaf0P7hGfo0OqSJGPjAOXBvFDJNSzovPmht_Lry4uxUaArKkEALw_wcB -
Larch cladding... will it come down. Place your bets..
SuperJohnG replied to SuperJohnG's topic in Building Materials
Looks good. Is it tongue tongue groove V joint? I just always assumed scottish larchnfor soe reason was just boards. -
How do you compact sand?
-
I didnt compact mine. It was 50mm sand blinding also prior to putting down insulated foundations, you can't compact sand. I'm sure I asked the same question at the time as I was doing it myself. As long as the sand is fully filled it'll be fine.
-
@JohnMo I've just realised you had replied here. Be interested to hear how much you got the scottish larch for if you are happy to share. I had a water diviner come...said I had a massive potential. Just no depth....drilled 120m and its low yield (200 litres per hour) which massively hurt, other hole we tried at 60m was pretty much Dry too. Will never trust another diviner again. To getbit at 36m woukd have been a dream. Might try that company for a quote on the treatment as my company have doubled the price just due to labour from 4k estimated ti nearly 9k.

Larch cladding... will it come down. Place your bets..
SuperJohnG replied to SuperJohnG's topic in Building Materials
@JohnMo I think I had bypassed as it was all rough sawn more suited to board on board wall cladding, but I do actually prefer that colour as its closer to the red cedar look I wanted..I also notice you have it in your canopy, do you have any pictures of that? Also where did you get yours? -
I have 100m2 of Siberian Larch to buy for my soffits and large canopy. It was originally Red cedar but that idea is firmly out the window. The price has significantly increased, hard to tell after covid - some places saying double from 3.40/lm to 8/lm. Others saying approx 30%. I have been quite frankly fannying around as I don't want to spend the money right now for fear of price dropping in say January - but it could also swing the other way. Hence I tried to rationalise getting a lesser amount and doing the essential bits needing done from scaffold then buying more later and do it from a tower. I could get away with 20m2 just now, then get the other 80m2 later, but will get a better deal if I get the 100 and maybe just bite the bullet and pay for it all now. Worst case I think would be it could be £1000 cheaper if it ever dropped back down, but I don't think it will. I have kind of answered my own question but if anyone have any views of pricing - doesn't have to be fact, maybe just a view. Also quite happy to hear...that I shoudl stop messing around and just buy it. In terms of budget...it was shot ages I think so this won't make a massive amount of odds I don't think.
-
@LA3222 that's mental, id never have imagined that much. Was that just for the intello too? you didn't use it on your PIR? Do they sell in boxes cheaper? or just so happened your 20 rolls was a box? Don't think I can bring myself to buy 50 rolls in one go £800 in tape...?
-
Oh dear lord that'll make me cry....I was thinking of buying 30 rolls. At that width it's a fortune.
-
I'm just about to place and order with these guys, just wanted to check a few things. I assume most people use the 1.5m wide rolls? also which width tape did people get? (the pages don't actually seem to say the width of the tape on it either?!) is there anything else I should get while I am doing an order that I'll need but not thought about yet? orcon? (no brickwork just whether I would need to secure on ground floor to concrete slab with this). Its a SIPS kit. Plus did everyone just buy direct through shop or email them? thanks John

Airtight membrane / Vapour Control Layer
SuperJohnG replied to bissoejosh's topic in Building Materials
Too slow....missed it! Bastard. That is causing me the issue here - the price of the intello is I think around 40% more, not inconsequential when you need a lot of the stuff. Then I was trying to understand the differences and if I really needed the intello. But it makes perfect sense that you would want any vapour out the walls and back into the house in summer to stop condensation in there, but I assume the VC foil just doesn't do that. Only intelligent VCL's do. It especially worries me as I have a SIPS build and interstitial condensation would be a major issue. But similalry...im pretty sure hardly anyone in SIPS is using an intelligent VCL. Are the sales tactics preying on my overthinking? -
Airtight membrane / Vapour Control Layer
SuperJohnG replied to bissoejosh's topic in Building Materials
@dpmiller how did you get on with the VC foil ultra? I was going to opt for the intello stuff, but locally 10 rolls of VC foil ultra have came up quite cheap at 600 quid and was maybe going to opt for that with some good tape. Don't know why I am holding back though on it and trying to talk myself into the intello from Germany. -
I've just taken delivery of 250 bags of hp12 and tubs of limestone white. Was only 4 weeks to get. No major hassles. This is TC15 (thin coat)
