  1. So how much is a Sunamp nowadays? Was it worth the extra over a cylinder setup?
  2. I’m about to get Fibre Optic cable installed as part of a rural broadband scheme. I have to lay a duct from the boundary fence to the property, a distance of 180m, with 150m being across loose limestone and outcrop. It’s been suggested I install a small bore duct and thread the fibre optic duct through that, so as to provide some protection. I’m thinking maybe 20mm bore black alkathene! What do you all think? Will this provide the uV and impact protection required? If not, what are the alternatives?
  3. Nooooo. Just burn the planter, knot weed and all.
  4. Let it dry out and then burn the lot, bamboo and all, not worth the risk trying to separate them.
  5. Demolish and start again, a major renovation is a money pit. I’ve done both and demolition is the way to go.
  6. Our tiler does all the cuts on site, more of them freehand!
  7. One of my traders people is asking for a Zero Vat Self Build Certificate for his accountant. I recall Jeremy Harris having one. Anyone got a copy I could use?
  8. Ouch, I need 11 of them. I hadn’t realized they were so chunky, I suppose what spend on chunky frames, I save on narrower doors!
  9. I’m also going to instal and fit the ASHP and all the plumbing myself. I was thinking what I save on the buffer and pump, I’d spend on the Smart controller. I’m told it allows you to carry out tweets to the set up from your phone and gathers a host of operational data, which can be useful in ensuring the most efficient operation.
  10. I once viewed a property with a mate and they were only allowing three people into the house at the time, due to fire damage in part if the property. The other guy left us in the lounge looking at the fire damage and he went into the kitchen, as he walked across the kitchen floor it gave way and he ended up in the sub floor. All due to dry rot. I've bought wrecks in the past and done them up at a profit. The last place had a tree growing in the kitchen and I had to demolish a third of the property due to structural issues. If you can buy cheap and can work to a budget then there is money t9 be made. Un-mortgageable property isn’t for the faint hearted.
  11. Just a thought! Did you specify the Aquari Smart Cloud controller?
  12. Don’t forget the insulation might be structural under your slab, EPS 300 and the like.
  13. Half my UFH is up an running using a temporary Willis heater. The pipes are around 600m in length and the pump is on its lowest setting. My other manifold has around 1000m of pipe connected to it. I’m thinking the pump should be more than capable of handling both. I’m also tempted not to buy and fit the buffer tank, given the amount of liquid already in the UFH system. Recon Renewables quoted for an installation kit, having priced up the parts separately, I can save another £200. (Every little helps!).
  14. The architect has specified FD20 fire doors in most rooms, the house is over three floors. Looking on line FD20 is no longer acceptable and I need to specify FD30. Just looking at the door casings, they appear to be very chunky, at around 32mm inside the reveal and available in a range of materials. What should I be buying? Can anyone point reassure me I’m looking at the right information?
  15. woops duplicate post.
  16. I was wondering if you could run the upstairs and downstairs as a single loop and just use one pump and mixer valve etc.
  17. Out of interest, Did you purchase the pre- plumbed cylinder or the bare cylinder?
  18. That’s why we’re into our fourth year of our self build !
  19. I’ve got a shower room with a curved wall, into which I want to install a walk in shower. As the curve won’t take a standard quadrant shower tray I’m thinking of using a square, 20mm thick, Jockoboard shower tray former and radiusing the corner opposite the waste outlet to form the quadrant. Has anyone done this and will it work?
  20. If 50mm is cheapest by volume I’d buy that and just build up the 150mm in three layers. I bought from Varleys and you don’t need an account, I just paid by credit card over the phone.
  21. That’s why the spare outlet on the MVHR system I will be used to ventilate the plant room containing my cylinder.
  22. I’m in the Avoid camp, sorry, Too many false starts and hiccups.
  23. I'm going to use your design in my new build. Just a quick question, what are the two multi coloured rectangles on the red hot input to the UFH? which cylinder is that/ make. model? I assume you've shopped around for all the kit, any recommendations on suppliers?
  24. We’ve had heavy driving rain and as a result water was been driven under a uPVC window. The window was originally sealed using silicone, which on closer inspection has hardened and come away from the concrete. Any suggestions on what I should replace it with?
  25. I realize that. I want a quality Gabion that will last.
