The house stylist asked, “ do ASHPs come in green?” Not sure I’ve ever seen a colour option?
-
The one you bought from Wolesley is the only one they sell, at last at Midsummer they had two to choose from! How many ASHPs do the Government want installing this year, 14,000 wasn’t it?!
-
I’m always considering my options. My current position is the cheapest septic tank. I can’t justify the extra £1000+ for a treatment plant.
-
Out of interest, which plant did you go for?
-
The next question is about the drainage field. Which is cheaper, perforated pipe and gravel bedding, or pre wrapped and filled drainage pipe (klargester easydrain)?
-
You mentioned the volume of the UGH pipes, Out of interest, what size is the house, number of bathrooms etc?
-
Interestingly, I was in my local plumbers merchants and asked which ASHP they stocked, answer was none! Loads of boilers but not a single ASHP.

That’s not too bad a price! Make and supplier ?

Heating, Hot water, ASHP, and Sunamp Design Needed
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in Other Heating Systems
Just dusted off my heat loss calculations and my old budget spreadsheet. I’ve got current ASHP and UVC prices, but am struggling to find current Sunamp UniQ12 prices (solar PV). Anyone got a current price of Sunamp ? -
On site painting and the wife says “When you said we were self building, I thought it would be more Kevin McLound and Grand Designs, we’d just turn up on site once a week to see how things were going on and not building the bloody thing ourselves!, never again will I listen to you!”

Not if customers are removing then, as @newhome has suggested, to replace them with something more familiar. I have a friend with does the electrical installations for an ASHP installation company and he tells me some of the houses he’s visiting to do installations definatly haven’t followed the Fabric First principles and wondered if some customers are being miss sold. -

So around £3300 then. I know a few on here have found second hand bargains on line and I must admit I do like to save money where I can. If anyone has spotted any special offers on a new ASHP, then please let me know. -

I had a look on Facebook market place last night, there are quite a few new or nearly new ASHP on there, some of the new ones are years old and I do wonder if they are too much of a risk, particularly when you can’t send them back. -

This lockdown isn’t helping! Not sure I can justify a trip to Bexhill on sea from Cumbria! -

Joe, out of interest, which ASHP did you go with and who supplied it? I had contacted three Sunamp distributors for prices for the UniQ12 and only one got back to me. I then contacted Sunamp to ask if there was a problem with their distributor network, as a result two of the three are no longer listed on the web site. Sunamp had tried to position their product as a mainstream replacement for a Boiler, UVC set up. It appears to be moving towards being a premium niche product. -

You are right about the price, but you don’t mention the price of the unit to heat the UVC. When you add that into the mix you must be at the same price or greater? Mind you, Sunamp prices do appear to be on the up and the number of stockist on the way down! I contacted three fir prices and only one came back with a price, £3,300, a £600 increase over a quote I got a year ago. -
Ah, yes - like discharging into the cattle slurry pit!
-
The design of the system has to be signed off by Building Control, the septic tank has to be fully compliant, tested and approved to EN12566 Part 1 and the drainage field sized in accordance with the peculation test results (Approved Document H). Finally the discharge has to be registered and approved by the EA. (“Guidance for the registration of small effluent discharges”, Environment Agency).
-
Which is now against the regulations and not allowed. I'm going for the cheapest septic tank I can find and will fit a discharge filter to reduce the solids being carried and install a well designed drainage field.

Mine will have the SWMBO mark 2 controller. If it senses cold, it switches the UFH heating to FULL

I’ve finally got to the point of buying a Sunamp! This self build is really slow when your doing it all yourself! Who is selling Sunamp to self builders?
