You have to ask to fit an ASHP? You learn something new everyday. I have planning permission to fit 3.8kw of PV. Next you'll be telling me it's not up to the LA planner to approve this!

At 3 tonnes it will be harder to nick and something on wheels that can simply be driven away. Maybe ask on here (main tread) if anyone has a mobile or static caravan for sale.

I'm considering using porcelain outdoor tiles, the 20mm thick stuff. Having looked at various local suppliers I'm finding their prices here in the national park eye watering expensive (£45 to £100 / m sq)! I'm after around 60m2 Has anyone used the porcelain tiles outside and can you recommend a more reasonable on-line or bulk supplier?

Is there a description of how the compensation curve works? Mine have four set points in the curve, but I'm not sure what each one is for?

I've installed an ASHP and the electrician set it up based on information he had from the manufacturer. Having run the system over Christmas and the New Year. I'm wondering if its time I optimized the set up. I recall someone referencing a Forum that deals exclusively in such things. Can anyone point me in the right direction or comment of the best approach to optimization. Which are the important things to look at etc.?

PIR and fire performance?????? I've used seconds and in many cases are probably first grade being sold off cheap because the corners a bashed a bit!

@ToughButterCupThanks for the various links to the threads regarding habitation and completion date triggers for the HMRC Vat reclaim process. It looks like we’ll have to delay moving in until I've talked to the local Valuation Office and the HMRC. I like most self builders we’ve have been delayed by COVID, the difficulty in getting work done in a timely manner and the need to juggle the money. I’m quite a way from completion but need to move into the house to help reduce our outgoings. It’s such a shame that the Vat people don’t allow two claims to be submitted, as this would help with cash flow. Looks like I’ll be burning the midnight oil preparing my Vat reclaim. Is there a thread describing the paperwork layout requirements and the documents required by the Vat people?

Its a days job to fit an ASHP and a day for the hot water cylinder and plumbing to connect the two.. You could fit everything, including the buffer tank and UFH manifolds now. Just close the valves to the manifolds and commission the ASHP and hot water side. In a few (many!) months time when you're ready, commission the UFH side.

Have you manually balanced the flow meters on each outlet from the manifold?

A lot of things aren’t legal, best use common sense! DIY products won’t be effective on Knotweed.

I’ve just started to look at the relative humidity in the new house. What sort of RH would you expect to achieve as the house dries out.

@epsilonGreedy. You clearly don’t understand my wife! If she wants UFH in the bathroom so she has a nice warm feeling in her toes in a morning, she gets UFH and I get an easy life. our House I’d so well insulated we don’t have the heating on for more than six weeks a year. However, having fitted heating I’d like to have some control over it, even if that is to simply switch in on when we have guests, so that they to have that warm toe feeling.

Having said I want something simple in a room stat, has anyone used Google home / Alexa compatible stats? Are they simple to set up and use? Some of the stats will be used to control electric UF heating in guest bathrooms. I was thinking we could ask Alexa to turn them on and off as required, without having to going round and re-programming each one.

My house is also Passive house and around 330m2. However, we’re only discussing room stats and I’m very much into KISS. Im happy to discuss room stats,or anything else house related, with @joe90 as his approach is something I can relate to and if I make a mistake it’s only going to cost me £30!

The one you linked to is for electric UFH, not wet UFH.

On my set up I found that the flow indicator on top of the manifold had been screwed in to far. Remove the red cap and unscrew it a turn or two and see if this helps. Google - Manifold flow setting

Looking at room stats, they are either old fashioned, simple manual dial, or all singing and dancing digital. All I want is a modern looking thermostat to switch the heating on and off!

The plumber recommended expensive programmable room stats, but I’m left thinking the program function would be useless! As the ASHP would be the better control, with simple stats switch8ng on the zone p7mp as required. I assume you control your heating via the ASHP controllers, for both on/off times and temperature?

Is the damp only on external walls? Are the external walls of solid construction, no cavity? If so, the damp might be due to the use of modern plaster rather than the more breathable lime plaster. We had a similar problem in a house with solid stone walls, once the modern plaster was removed and replaced with lime plaster the problem went away.

I’ve got my self install Panasonic ASHP up and running, however I have two ufh zones, one in each wing of a L shaped house. Each zone is supplied via its own manifold and integrated pump. I’m wondering what’s the best way of controlling each zone, I assume a simple room stat, but do need something programmable? I’m thinking Not? Do I rely on the ASHP time program?

Sorted! After talking to various shower tray manufacturers about a custom fitted shower tray Ive decided that that having a bespoke shower tray made is too expensive. I found a company called Jackoboard. U.K. do a rectangular wet room shower tray that can be cut to suit the shape of the space.

I’m desperately trying to get the house finished for Christmas, mind you I said that last year! I need to install a wet room shower tray into a quadrant shaped space. I intend to remove the existing 22mm chipboard floor. I’m told my options are to lower the floor to provide support for a foam core type tray or to go for a pre-cast try, which sits on the joists. One problem I’ve got is the position of the waste outlet, I need to position it between the existing metal web joists. The waste will be located around 150mm in from the bottom right corner edges. I’ve looked on-line, but it’s not quite the same as seeing the product! How did you do yours and is there any particular product or approach you would recommend? PS. Someone suggested I could lower the floor to provide support, then screed, with a fall to the waste kit? Has anyone tried this?
