  1. But your £22k includes plumbing and waste for bathrooms etc? So this could be separated no?
  2. some roofs tilt the end tiles up a little to have the same effect, my slate roof is a hip roof so not done, next time I see my roofer I will ask him.
  3. Frankly UV will dull any colour, my block paving has lost a lot of its colour which is a shame.
  4. I was told this is to stop water tracking down the edge and on to the gable end.
  5. not heard of those before, our internal walls had footings as deep as outside walls but narrower
  6. I agree, footings already settled so should not move anymore so no need to remove.
  7. then they have no excuse for not knowing what the planners specified (get the planners on your side and get them round ?)
  8. Ditto Cornish Devon border, middle of nowhere near Atlantic Ocean.
  9. @ProDave and I heat via an ASHP to 48’ and that’s more than adequate, however our DHW tanks are a bit larger as we don’t blend hot water down as much as others. Also having a DHW tank at that temp means the losses are a lot less. With cooler heating water you may need to oversize your radiators.
  10. @ASHP newbie SSHHHHH don’t mention wood burning here, not the done ting ? (but I do occasionally) ?
  11. ha, I know you cannot scale from a drawing (accurately) but they should have dimensions. So this company did everything?. Did you pass to them the planning permission you got? Did it include....... if so I would get the planners out to complain to “d@b” that they have not abided by the planning application.
  12. so “d@b” did not follow what the planners specified ,!!
  13. Found this comparison chart, https://www.kitchen-worktops-direct.co.uk/kitchen_worktop_comparison.html
  14. Any stone is bespoke and cut to what’s required, Howdens kitchens fir example use 616mm worktops .
  15. I think that is unacceptable, one reason to make sure any project management is spot on. Not sure how you stand tho.
  16. I just bought an air rifle, cheap from Hungary but according to reviews better than most out there, happy hunting!!!
  17. No, but having fitted kitchen for years laminate (good quality) should be considered. It’s cost is a fraction of the alternatives and kitchens are not a life long thing (unless bespoke in Oak or something). I found people tended to replace them more often than expected so the cost of the others rarely justify the expense.
  18. Welcome and good on you for taking on these jobs between employment. Ask away ?
  19. strips, 12v power source, stuck to every other roof truss, can’t remember the power etc but fine for most work with angle poises over work benches for close up work.
  20. I installed bifolds, locally made from Oak, I specified compression rubber seals as I have heard brush seals used by some are not air tight. Yes sightlines are a bit heavy but that’s the price for Oak I was willing to pay.
  21. After breaking so many fluorescent tubes in my previous garage/workshop I fitted leds strips.
  22. Yet some authorities insist on “professional commissioning” (there was someone on here that was told that) although there is no statuary qualification for that).
  23. Yes I copied Jeremy’s but BI did not ask fir it!!!! (Still yet to balance it but seems ok).
