  1. That is what mine was like, blower box mounted on flat plastic lid of the plant ?‍♂️
  2. can you name that unit? (For the benefit of future installers of these things!). Mine (vortex) was quite noisy but moving the pump to an in ground location and sound deadening mat on top has made it virtually silent.
  3. then you didn’t clean them off properly which will lead to carpet wear before long then complain to the carpet fitters /suppliers , this is a builders forum not a health or carpet fitters forum!
  4. Glad to hear your good news, can you tell us what changed?
  5. not everyone can lay bricks level, yes poured concrete with shuttering will be easier to get level. Just get some rebar in it to make it strong.
  6. Or wear clogs ?
  7. Nah, it’s the way I talk, innit tho!
  8. Perhaps before you blame the carpet underlay fir causing you pain you should invite others into those rooms to see if they suffer the same (lockdown allowing), I have thick bouncy underlay upstairs (wonderful stuff) and it’s not caused either of us a problem!!!!.
  9. It’s like anything in life, you get what you pay for, buy cheap, and you get crap!
  10. No idea what make it was but an advert on tv recently showed a dishwasher where the lower tray swung out and up to be loaded/unloaded!
  11. I don’t need a leaf blower, I live near the Atlantic ???
  12. I beg to differ, mine has solar glass and enough windows fir ventilation. It does not leak. It faces due South and yes it can get a bit hot during the odd hot spell (but no hotter than a foreign holiday that you pay fir!,!) but is a godsend in the shoulder months and often heats the house for us by using bifolds. Even during winter on a cloudless day it can be quite pleasant. I would not be without it!.
  13. when I used to fit kitchens I often reduced work surface heights by reducing kick boards and fabricating legs to the customers requirements, can only be done if no appliances are in that part tho!!!!
  14. there are good trades people out there, it’s just the bad ones that get all the press. Go on social media and ask for recomendations.
  15. OH I HATE GROUT, after years of tiles and grout, shower panels are a gift from heaven!! As a builder (small time) I was asked to dig out and renew grout for customers but always turned the work down.
  16. My only reservation on textured is it holding onto soap/scum, ours are glossy flat and with a “blade” (bit like a windscreen wiper with a handle) its dead easy to remove “water” after a shower and leaves no marks.
  17. Concrete pads and these.....https://www.strongtie.co.uk/products/detail/adjustable-elevated-post-base/290
  18. Not in my opinion, just make sure you keep all receipts, make sure they are VAT receipts fir materials so you can claim this back, make sure you are not charged VAT for materials and labour, this should be zero rated. I did however get a VAT specialist to do my VAT claim at the end of the build which was well worth the cost.
  19. Looking forward to seeing how you progress with this little project, keep us informed (and loads of pics) ?
  20. so the answer is YES!
  21. Tell her Timber floors have been used in houses fir donkeys years with no problems!,!
  22. why is she so against a wooden floor?, will she be using the room? Tell her concrete will be much colder!, tell her concrete blows the budget (unless she pays fir it ?).
  23. Or use clear acrylic sheet then you can see if there is any condensation ?
