  1. +1 with room sealed wood burning stove, I have one and MVHR works very well! (And they need not be black!)
  2. Yes, MVHR only works well in a relatively airtight house, open fireplaces are great big draughty holes in the building fabric.
  3. Yes, slow, but you don’t argue.
  4. Brilliant series, I just watched the whole series of spooks (instead of watching the news at 10 as it’s so depressing)
  5. I was replying to you, not zoot! Having my afternoon coffee and scanning various projects that are moving forward.
  6. You will have to pay me £50 ?
  7. no more comments from me then ?
  8. Yes please ?
  9. Really smart that ?
  10. Problem in this country is no one hires out the pumps (but I really like it as an insulating material).
  11. Have you thought about blown cellulose insulation?
  12. Yes you don’t see the logic but you keep doubting people here that know far more than you. That should have been part of the designers calculations hence the reason I say, oh never mind, I’m not going to say it again . YES YES!!! Then why do you keep asking the same questions over and over without listening to the replies.
  13. I tried to give away a whole 100m roll of 16mm UFH pipe for the price of postage and had no takers. In the end I gave it away to a local plumber that did UFH. I did keep short off cuts as I plan to use them as formers fir garden cloches.
  14. And me (but accused of being tight ?). I do get so much joy out of doing things myself and inventing “get arounds”. Anyone can pay a professional to sort their problems out.
  15. Wow, just watched it on catchup, now that’s a fantastic job and a lovely space. I loved his ability to problem solve, her determination to work, I do think underpinning is OTT for a lot of jobs, many houses still stand with no foundations. I had family and friends worried about me doing a build after/during cancer treatment but I found it a complete tonic and not a stress. That’s one of the best Grand Design programs, up there with Ben Law.
  16. so (at the risk of repeating myself) the system was not designed properly.

  19. What about one of these, probe clipped to radiator, cheap as chips?
  20. @zoothorn do you have a means of measuring the temperature of the readiators?

    Asbestos removal

I got an asbestos skip with lid and filled it myself, dressed like a nuclear scientist, got a “ticket” that covers its removal and that included the quarry it was being put into, copy went to BCO on completion.
  22. About as good as a chocolate teapot IMO. ?
  23. We were delayed by bats fir a year and it’s not like they are rare around here !!!!!, however I would recommend getting on well with the conservationists, it paid off fir us as the council tried to overturn the recommendation by the “bat people “ (even more bat rules) but they supported me in getting what we wanted and the council were overturned on appeal.
