  1. I believe so, but several receipts I sent to Andrew were the wrong sort and he contacted the retailer fir me to arrange the proper sort of receipt, another reason to use him.
  2. https://www.vat431.co.uk ?he could not be more helpful.
  3. Usually the recirculating hoods exit the air from vents either side of the vertical tube! Do you have a pic of your hood?
  4. I have a Vortex with a similar box and buried it next to the plant mainly to make it quiet.(picture above ).
  5. I like doing woodwork and build a quite a few things but decided the front door needed to be 100% right so left it to professionals (local joinery company who built all my windows and bifolds). If I made that door I would be very dissapointed (and not show anyone) I would refuse to pay fir that, simply not acceptable.
  6. Just as an aside, how many months a year will you need this heating?
  7. Big space, no insulation, big bucks to heat!!! My workshop is similar, I did put a heater above the bench facing me when working on the bench. Frankly even warm clothes only go so far, when your fingers are cold they don’t work properly. I rarely work out there In The winter.
  8. Mine was also masonry but was lucky to have a brilliant team and I was on site to project manage, I didn’t have to micromanage as they took my instructions seriously.
  9. How often do we hear that?
  10. It was @Nickfromwales that suggested it.
  11. Nor did I , just loads of primer. I left a gap in the tiles across doorways which is where cracking can occur (note to self, must get round to put mastic in these gaps ?).
  12. I didn’t, nobody asked me to tell them ?‍♂️ as said above the DNO,s don’t know their ass from their elbow regarding ASHP,s, electric showers etc can put more load but not notifiable. I also agree that fabric first (loads of insulation) will almost negate a boiler of any real size, my build is not Passive (quite) but I only have a 5kW ASHP and that works just fine.
  13. To “err” is human, we all make mistakes (but don’t like to admit it). You have done so well despite the odds at times, don’t beat yourself up mate. Yes, my first thought was cement (asbestos) board or 9mm plasterboard (shaved slightly). “What the eye (BC) don’t see, the heart don’t grieve over ”. Crack on ?
  14. Same as floor? Or fill and paint same as walls ?
  15. Why?
  16. Yes as long as you use an insert https://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-speedfit-superseal-plastic-push-fit-pipe-inserts-15mm-10-pack/69329?tc=SB6&ds_kid=92700055281954514&ds_rl=1249404&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm7fnkcPa9QIVibbtCh2QHQ4pEAQYAiABEgKVIPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds always use these with plastic pushfit plastic pipe edit, no such thing as a stupid question, stupid is not asking ?
  17. https://www.amazon.co.uk/SPEEDFIT-MDPE-25mm-15mm-Connector/dp/B00COWFZU2
  18. Yes but my builder got him to do it fir me and the cost was minimal as no “design” from him was involved. I think quite a few here would disagree with you on that one https://www.greenbuildingstore.co.uk/golcar-passivhaus-cavity-wall-passivhaus/
  19. Yes I was thinking “caravan hook up socket/plug, you could always build a small enclosure to keep the worst off it.https://www.screwfix.com/p/abb-16a-2p-e-surface-socket-250v/1858F?tc=SB6&ds_kid=92700055281954493&ds_rl=1249401&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwO_JkI3a9QIV5ejtCh3FpgCeEAQYASABEgKXavD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  20. Aren’t they always ?‍♂️
  21. Well I designed our build and whilst passive esk it is not certified but much better than building regs. I only got my builders architect to convert my pencil drawings into CAD fir the planning application.
  22. Well @Onoff what did you do in the end? Finished yet?
  23. +1, once the basic build is up and loads of insulation installed and attention to airtightness is completed most other things can be upgraded later. Remember you only buy insulation once and it’s lasts a very long time. Unlike gas and electricity ?.
