I did the same ?♂️, yes I am yet to balance mine as well as @Russdl. Despite my turning my MVHR up yesterday and overnight, with a hard frost I still had condensation this morning, but mine are only 2g.

I am busy re plumbing my ASHP and UFH as the heating is not performing as it should but thanks to great help here should be sorted tomorrow, I have turned my MVHR up a notch so will see if it makes a difference to the condensation in the morning as it it forecast to be cold again tonight with clear skies.

Going back to first principles, if the incoming water temp is only just above the outgoing water temp then either the pump speed is too high or youre radiators and UFH are not dissipating the heat properly or the house is up to temp. ?♂️

Well I suffer from a little condensation on my 2g windows. I confess I never got round to balancing the MVHR it appears to work ok ?. I also have an enthalpy unit but where I live, an old moor, it is permanently damp and near the Atlantic and the RH is always fairly high (inside and out).

Guttering over a boundary fence.

In my opinion, yes your guttering should not oversail his property, but it existed before with no problems and he did not object to your refurbishment. He is just being unfair in that he has changed his mind after the work was done. Rather than fall out with him and in the interest of keeping the piece (neighbours can be hell) I would move it if you can. You could argue that he agreed to your work prior to having it done but I don’t suppose you have it in writing?. -
Roof ceiling joist strengthening.

Well if you want to do as little as possible structurally I would just screw and glue 4x2 alongside the existing 3x2, level on the bottom at the lowest point and level across the room in both directions, no point in fixing to walls etc . Do this on every one, will strengthen them a lot and give you a flat surface to plasterboard too. -
I didn’t edit it out, like I didn’t edit out the rest of your piece, I quoted the relevant part, I just wanted to make my point that planners don’t always act fairly!

I am guessing that the sagging bit (lowest) is the middle of the room? Is this correct? -
Not in my case, when I went to appeal and won the council were told in no uncertain terms that they were not abiding by their own policies. After 3 planning applications we applied fir something we did not want but would pass planning. The ground floor was exactly the same, just upstairs was different. This allowed for digging and foundations etc to start, we then appealed planning application non1 (which was what we really wanted) and won, so by the time the builder got to first floor level I had new plans for him. I would not pay planners in washers, they even told me that if I appealed I would more than lightly win, go figure.

@JAS-Build find a list of councillors and ring/email them to ask if they can call it into committee, this is what I did, a local councillor was all for our build and so called it into committee.

Funnily enough when going through the programming I found the water temp (I only have one temp for both DHW and heating) was set at 40’ not 48’ like !!!! I upped it to 45’ and still the manifold fails to get hot and stay there. Interesting that at even 40’ the DHW was hot enough fir showers/bath/washing up , I may put it back down to give a better COP.

Sit rep, studied the small print fir the ASHP/programmer and found there is a terminal fir an additional pump and a programming change to not power this if DHW is called fir. So it’s all go for later this week. Thanks to one and all for your valued input ? (I will let you know if it works ?).

Sit rep, I found a spare cable the electrician put in, have decided on the new wiring so later this week will re plumb and re wire ?
-
Bah humbug, where is that written in their small print (plus no one here has come across this before!)

As far as I know, yes no meter for a standpipe just fixed charge then blank removed and meter connected for house usage after.

Roof ceiling joist strengthening.

I have come across many ceilings using 3x2, would be fine if supported adequately and purlins not bending ? as @saveasteading said often by replacing slates with concrete tiles. -
Roof ceiling joist strengthening.
joe90 replied to alexbr's topic in Lofts, Dormers & Loft Conversions
Ah, could not see the wall In the first pic!. I think the purlins have sagged a bit and those diagonals have pushed the ceiling down, why not cut those diagonals, Jack the ceiling up (if it will go) and re Instate the diagonals and if necessary use metal strapping hanging the ceiling joists from that purlin. Is your roof bowed looking from the outside? Is the purlin straight? Yes you could just sister those ceiling joists with 4x2 level with the lowest part rather than the above. -

Those ceiling joists are overlapped in the middle where I presume the wall was?. I don’t think you need a SE but a good builder would know what to do. -
Hardboard is a great packer, I use it a lot, known thickness and can be used in multiples. Or you could counter batten the opposite way between metal pieces or use sound bars (which I wished I had used) to increase sound insulation between floors.

RH in our house has always been fairly high, 67% this morning, but outside thick mist and drizzle so not surprising. I get a little condensation around my double glazing, especially the bedrooms, (people breathing at night?) I tried upping the MVHR a little but it appeared to make little difference.

You aint kidding , it needs blending down from radiator temps to UFH temps, no wonder that gauge melted.

There is nothing there to indicate delivering a dribble ?♂️, as said by @dpmiller just check the valve is turned fully on.
