  1. Why not? I did 😎 best toy ever, had great fun and did loads myself 👍
  2. Yes, but, our ditch is dry fir a few months of the year and acceptable for discharge from a STP as long as it’s through a rumble drain which is a perforated pipe within drainage stone.
  3. Having looked again at pic 4 I think this is correct, no ceiling joists tying the rafters and fixed to the wall plate and higher ties are less efficient, again what’s the other wall like?
  4. Fair comment, if that’s the case much simpler to rectify .
  5. That roof has “spread “, needs pulling back somehow, what’s the other side like?
  6. Test above and below DPC to give a better idea if the DPC has failed and where the damp is coming from.
  7. Yup, always cheaper to do a job properly first time.
  8. Yes, crap job, the trouble is there are real cowboys out there and it’s difficult to see when its on a roof.
  9. Welcome to THE forum, lots of knowledge here just start asking questions or hunt for subjects already discussed.
  10. I had a similar thing, turned out to be a blocked rainwater drain on the boundary just outside, unblocked and the wall dried out.
  11. +1 👍, might be a old classic diesel, no road tax, no MOT, make my own fuel from cooking oil.
  12. What difference from an automatic (like I drive)?
  13. Not for me, knowing that fuel will only go up in price and my pension income is limited was a big driver for me to well insulate by new build, helping the planet was second on my list.
  14. Yup, i have a 5Kw heat pump and quite adequate.
  15. See if you can get a bit of this from someone doing their facia boards https://plasticcentre.co.uk/product/100mm-flat-general-purpose-board-9mm/
  16. I paid for the shell to go up (brick and block) and found plenty to do around them, did nearly everything else but the brickies were worth every penny.
  17. What would be the cost of running a charging system?, a lot of councils have already reduced rubbish collection to fortnightly.
  18. Yes it should, it should drain any condensation that might form in the void.
  19. Yes but the drainage holes must be to the outside of any water seal around the door or it will only drain indoors.
  20. Media always do this, it sells papers (which is why I never buy or read one).
  21. Sorry but I don’t agree!!!! We know that insulation benefits are a sliding scale, diminishing returns! If you can’t afford 300mm of insulation, 200mm will still give a large benefit if that’s all you can afford. In fact because it’s a sliding scale, 200mm will give far better than a 66.6% benefit . No, they catch the bus 🤷‍♂️ 🤣
  22. But, if they have not got £500 then they sure as hell won’t have £8,250? 🤷‍♂️ I don’t think yet another tax is going to help anyone, if you only have £499 then spend that on insulation and draft proofing.
  23. Yes I have suffered this, best to get it right first time 😱
  24. I had no surveys just my own drawings proving it met regs! Just more money fir old rope by the sounds of it!!,!
  25. Why?, my bath, kitchen tap and showers are all on 15mm with basins and toilets on 10mm, very adequate and quick to get hot water, 22mm is old standard (IMO).
