Thank you very much ..... at last. They know what they know, and since they learned about it so long ago, they don't know why they know it, so they can't explain it. Why should they? They're not teachers. Wiring: there's nowt more jangling for Know-Nowts like me than a scattering of technical terms all meaning the same thing, spoken by people who seem often to me not to be able to answer simple questions - like What the difference between a ring main and a ring final then?

I am very impressed. How do you manage it? The psychology of it I mean. Every person of the female persuasion I know or have known simply wouldn't put up with it. And I don't care if it costs another £1000 or more a year , I'd rather have a happy mate. The psychology of warmth is just as important as the delivery system. And there's the rub. Evidence. Really hard to get hold of. You are right, there is no barrier. I have always tried to go with the 'flow' realising long ago that flexible attitudes are a significant help. And that meant moving. But everywhere I have moved, there's a chunk of the local populace that call incomers like me White Settlers. Sometimes I've viewed locals wistfully thinking it must be really comforting to be deeply embedded in a locality : but I don't see such people as spoilt , unrealistic or indulged. Just local(s).

What might your problems be ... how long have you got? In a nutshell, our neighbour has behaved with spectacular, documented, public rudeness. No point going into detail. Bottom line ( ? sorry) be careful to be seen to be completely fair about both the responsibility for the shared assets and about paying for its maintenance. Sometimes neighbours move. Just sayin'.

Welcome. Your first post : a universal truth. Not bad for a first post. Across the board, I can't think of difficult human endeavour that doesn't cause us to question our sanity. First marathon (Christ this hurts) , sailing offshore on your own (I want to get off), first parachute jump (is this a good idea - reeeeeally?) first solo flight in bad turbulence (I want my mummy) studying for an examination that really matters (I'm never going to master this), getting married (remind me why I married you?) trying to undestand a plumber (I'll go for a percentage, maybe one day I'll understand a bit more). Insert your own challenege here. Slowly, because of little bits of success, you get used to the pain. And then you get hooked on it - well appropriate levels of pain anyway. Its clear you will enjoy BH because; There's more teaching and learning on this site than goes on in many a school. The key? Highly motivated members. Like you - welcome.
