Reducing The Potential for Error
Declan52 replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Project & Site Management
Is it possible that the whole frame has slightly sunk on one side throwing everything out of square. Can you put a plumb Bob on the two gables and see what you find. -

I have one of their screwdriver and socket sets and they are very gd indeed. In my local lidl you need to there as soon as they get set out or tough. -
You are flying Ian. Don't forget to take a step back and look at it and remember how far you have come and let that big smile come across your face.
-
Under no circumstances obviously!!!!
-
It really does taste nice. It's chicken and beer how could it not.
-
Just kill all the newts and say they emigrated.

If it's just going to be used for storage then put the founds in and use wooden joists for the floor similar to some timber framed houses. Will save you on concrete and steel. 9*3 joists and carry a fare bit of weight.

We done the same tried to get ours finished for the child starting p6 but over ran by a month so had to drive her over every morning. At least everything is close by but they will still shaft you anyway!!!
-
Have you looked into a self build mortgage yet as some companies really don't like a shared lane for access.

That's a tasty flat indeed. Someone has Def spent the money there. I don't think people really give 2 flying fks if the Queen or prime minster come down to visit I think they are more interested in where they are going to sleep, eat and wash. Listening to them poor people at that council building it was only a matter of time before they snapped. The powers that be need to pull out all the stops to sort these people out quickly.

So if and when the inquiry starts and if as what looks like the cause is the cladding then what happens to all the rest of the people living in similar tower blocks. In Dublin there was the priory hall app block that was built in the boom that was basically condemned due to fire risk, where lots of other reasons as well , Google if you want. The residents who lived there fought for years to get the council to step in and buy them out which eventually after a long court case they did. The spent near 30m gutting the complex to get it up to standard and then have sold/rented out the finished apps. What happens now then if some fire authority says another tower is at risk will there be a similar outcome considering the debt the country is in.

We have all grew up with the fantasy of being in the police or fire brigade and there are bits of the job that would be very full filling but being first on the scene at incidents like car crashes and murders would put my head away. How they cope is beyond me esp as the pay packet ain't really no where near where it should be. Fair play to anyone who does it.

If use 2 metal tapes then you will square it mins. If as mentioned you use nails to mark the points it's a job you can do yourself very quickly and accurately in no time in any weather. We all love a bit of new tech but for this job a gd metal tape is the winner every time.
-
Phone scaffolding companies and see if they have any older gear that they would like to shift on. It will all still be In good condition just not pristine.
-
Buy two good quality metal tapes that are long enough for your diagonal. Plastic will stretch when you pull it.
-
When it leaves the the yard it should have it's fully laden weight on the docket as they always have a weigh bridge in the yard. 1m3 is 2.4t.

Some appalling houses on that TV show on ITV. I would burn it down if it was me!!!

Cooker hood to mvhr extract plenums
Declan52 replied to CC45's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Connect one end of the ducts all up at the room end and leave the ducts 1m longer than you need. Have them all tied together to keeping them neat where ever you are connecting them up. Once you know they are all in and don't need moved it's a 2 min job cutting the duct and connecting it up.- 46 replies

Take measurements of the walls both ways. Any mark on the floor will have disappeared by the time the plasterers have finished.- 46 replies

Fix them in place and cut them so the bottom of the tube is level with the top of the plaster board. Don't cut holes in the ceilings prior to plastering the ceiling much easier to skim the ceiling without them. Have all the measurements of where they are and then cut through the ceiling and fit the cover on. I have my extract 1300mm from the hob.- 46 replies

Does anyone utilise their top hung roof lights?
Declan52 replied to Construction Channel's topic in Skylights & Roof Windows
I have 5 keylights on my roof. Very easy to install apart from the obvious heavy lifting bit. My windows all came with the flashing kit so not sure how much they where. The rep called into my house when he seen my roof go up and I was able to order direct from him and as they are based close to me went to the factory and collected them.- 13 replies
