Could use hammer-fixing or anchor bolts
-
I would say it would depend on the render finish, colour etc. Most UPVC suppliers will have a form of trim that would work with them. I know that it is usually done with battens in England but could you not do it the Scottish way and slate directly to the wood boards? or is that against building control down there?
-
You could use Cupa spanish slates and finish it off with either a trim or use lead.

Metal roofing companies
makie replied to Russell griffiths's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I've never used that company before but if you are considering standing seam I can recommend Catnic. -
Sweet, I see a decent amount of people these days not ventilate their roof. I get a fair bit of work out of it so good to hear it's a vented ridge.
-
Make sure you have vent strips running on top of the fascia then. How are you finishing the ridge? In Scotland we tend to use ventilated zinc but I'm assuming you may be using concrete ridges?
-
So I would assume that you will be putting vents in the roof then, correct?
-
Are you going to have a ventilated soffit?
-
The link doesn't seem to be working for me. Based off of the black mineral I can safely say you're doing a flat roof. Is there any fire rated requirements for the build?

Alutec have a good metal fascia system. - https://www.marleyalutec.co.uk/products/evoke-fascia-soffit-and-copings/

Use some white diluted vinegar and spray it onto the area and it will sort it out
-
You can get some UPVC that has an angle return made for this type of build. Eurocell used to sell it

Slate Roof to Render Board Covered Gable End
makie replied to Triassic's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
100mm is the standard for a cover flashing up-stand in my area and 125mm for it to be raggled into the wall -

Just pointing out that this is a watergate not a valley. -

I've used lead, GRP or zinc whenever I have done it -
It's purely because it is cheaper and doesn't make much of a difference
-
Major house builders don't do it purely because it is cheaper and not required.
-
Slated houses need sarking but if there is tiles on it the battens alone help hold the trusses together also. The only time I see it now on sites is when they are being built for the council. Aye persimmon, Cala and all the other major builders are poor these days.....
-
I work in the central belt of Scotland and very rarely will house builders put any form of sarking or boards on roofs.
-
Every house builder I have worked for in Scotland just does felt over the rafter now.
-
It sounds stupid but lick your fingers and wet the blade, works well
-
It's not just an English problem. Most houses built with tiles in Scotland are built with felt over the joists, unless it is for a council.
-
This is late but this is 100% not a Scotcem tile, it is more than likely an Annandale which is the old Russell brand. Russell tile is the best fit.
