  1. can you find a ready mixed pointing mortar or mastic in black in AUS as already suggested lay bricks --rake out and use mortar gun later to point as required?
  2. If you already using makita batteries for other tools --its a no brainer surely plenty of other corded and cdoredless chainsaws -- ,but if you have the batterties +charger ,got to be a good call
  3. another one adds 33% more traffic to a road which already has traffic calming measures -- i think that is your main problem the main road must be quite busy, by thier view, to have speed humps + 20 mph limit
  4. LOL plenty of people making them already as you suggest me making from an outboard i thought you may like the YANMAR one https://www.yanmarenergysystems.eu/Products/Micro-Cogeneration/CP5WE-44/
  5. the way i understand the law is that any part of a tree encroaching your land can be removed and the bits returned to the owner this being enshrined inlaw must take preceendent on planning ? so if the problem is the roots+ branchs -- you dig them up -chop them off ?
  6. spoken as a man with bottomless pockets it would be part of the intial project costings as far as i am concerned so you know what you are getting into before comitting fully to the project "fail to plan and you plan to fail" the point raised by @Sensus is valid that you might have to buy the ground the wall sits on --that would be a hard sell to present owner Me--- I not entertain such a restriction if Iwas that owner on me selling the property later-- unless it came with a big number attached to it
  7. how long is the wall ? start by getting a quote to rebuild it is it brick or stone ? drystone dykes here cost approx £130, a metre to get rebuilt, but could be more where you are--presuming stone is there --then add on the cost of traffic lights lights+ barriers for while it is being done highways dept may insist on them unless it can be rebuilt from inside his garden and he will allow it and I can say for sure he won,t want you doing it ,but a proper contractor do some costings would be my route at this stage before you even speak to him I can,t see a mirror keeping roads dept happy at all do you know what height they will accept? is that the only problem with the planning ?
  8. that works both ways --they can,t make you put a tree back up --only make you plant another one do what you need now would be my view and course of action if no TPO in force
  9. he will my guess best way to stop heron is make it deep at edge ,so no where for him to stand --but no perfect solutuion other than the obvious, but that is illegal its gone crazy now penalty for killing a buzzard --which is not endangered by any means is £4000 fine and up to 2years in jail
  10. you got any herons?--they love ducklings
  11. varnish +eco ? 5gallon with hole in it ?and cover in something -but cheap +nasty wood and water -not convinced --how bnig is going to be ?enough space for them to sit about outside the house ? 4ft square? -bigger really
  12. still won,t be safe from mr mink --but fox won,t get them
  13. pallets will not last long in water
  14. an old inner tube with structure on top --blow up as required to get height correct# the obvious is to recyle some polystrene packaging for your floatation or 1 or 5 gallon plastic drums don not forget you will need an anchor or it will end up at the bank of the pond when wind blows
  15. looks like something from a disney cartoon on the end of a witchs house.LOL
  16. thats why then --they are like a sponge if you leave them out in the rain --then they freeze --BINGO
  17. had the same problem where an aerial pole was attached to my feature fyfe stone exterior chimney structure on end of house anyway years on and the clamps that were used for aerial pole were not S/S ,by this time i was on sky so pole had gone --but the stains remained asked many builders how to get rid of stains and tried acids etc ---end of the story i got a sandblasting attachment for my karcher power washer and a bag of kiln dryed silver sand blasted it all and it took it out --but watch out for the over spray I should have covered it even though it was not that close i have an upstairs slightly sand blasted window now, LOL.
  18. you mean thermalite -- as in you pick them up with one hand, things you cut with a hand saw
  19. I doubt very much they were dense blocks if they fell apart
  20. or maybe line them with bits of plastic soffit material --that will be smooth and pretty non stick , AND PLENTY OF VIBRATING TO GET AIR BUBBLES OUT i used an orbital block sander on outside of one i made to vibrate the air out
  21. keep looking for a builder then -- most are just scared of what they have not used before
  22. having just talked someone in biogas --its non starter to get meaningful gas or power that you could sell you need to use organic waste --not trees and to be viable you a need a source of 30,000tons of waste a year was worth a look
  23. so this what i should do with my 200+trees I need to fell !-- and no need for ASHP ?? and maybe not kill the stumps but let the sycamore sprout again looks good ,but very labour intensive for a younger genration i think any new developments on this idea , will hunt biogas generation systems for a laugh
  24. now you sure yuo have to use natural slate or something that has the look of it --there are many products now you could not tell the difference from the ground .but price is totally dif
  25. Iwasn,t having a go at you --juts pointing for others that maybe thought it could be a good idea --that it would not be
