  1. think that will not work well over time bitumen based could shrink as I suspect the bitumen part evaporates and glue probably will react with it
  2. I would be nervous at the long term adhesion of tape to EPS without a primer coat . one novel idea car plastic stone chip --spray joints with that --its water proof and never comes off and is water based https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gravitex-Professional-Protector-Application-Protection/dp/B01M1K65KC/ref=asc_df_B01M1K65KC/?tag=bingshoppinga-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=&hvpos=&hvnetw=o&hvrand=&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584413738286283&psc=1 try some on inside something like a box made from eps +FILL WITH WATER or this one aerosol cans https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Stonechip-Stone-Chip-Paint-Coating-Underbody-Car-Truck-Van-500ml-x-4-CANS/223463894112?hash=item34077c6c60:g:2W4AAOSw4ARcnVuH no tape needed then
  3. a thick coat of pva or emulsion on eps and let it dry -so tape of choce will then stick to that ?
  4. It will work fine -just that you will be loosing more heat downwards than a thicker insulated system --but it will heat room well
  5. technically you could use a thin system and only lift floor level by 50mm - BUT you will be loosing heat into the concrete without a thick enough layer of insulation a bit of grief now will reduce your heat losses for ever -- do you know for sure that concrete floor has a vapour barrier below it and coming up the sides above the level of the concrete -isolating it from walls probably not at that age --so the right thing is to start again
  6. I have always lived in soft water areas and i notice the opposite if I go to hard water area - could it be the softner is OVER softening the water? are they adjustable
  7. i know nothing about 3 d printing --but that failure looks very simply that the material is not strong enough or too brittle Is it a case like nylon where you need to boil it up in water to stop it make it more flexible+ stop it becoming to brittle?
  8. the reason cars have been getting largerover the years is encaqp testing --cars have to be bigger + heavier for all the safety measures internal crash bars ,air bags etc all take space so if to get same intewrnal space car gets bigger
  9. can you get 6 x3 boards ? thats what my 74 year old plaster master uses now if he got to do ceilings
  10. i do not disbelieve you ,but the mot s must be carried out on pit with a jacking beam and swivel plates- must have been doing them for a long time with no change in ownership to still be allowed to have a pit - that will be bombed out if garage changes hands
  11. 2 post ramp was never an mot ramp all 4 posters or a pit now 4 posters with shaky plates for one man MOT operation for any new MOT stations
  12. the 2 posters are for sale -- only me here now -4 poster is coming to new house when built but £600 is bottom line --as they are not that old and proper ones with bottom frame work ,so suitable for floors that are not that good seen more than one 2 poster that just have the post, and no longditudinal arms on base , pull out of the floor when hairy arsed mechanic is swinging on a gearbox to get it back in scary stuff
  13. If i could only have one ramp it would be a 4 post with wheel free every time if there was a choice I got 1 x 4 post (bradbury) and 2 x (hoffman) 2 posters they have motor that can be single or 3 phase
  14. UFh will stil be best way even with mains gas
  15. A friend of mine has a stand alone garage wall height 10ft 6" he has a 4 poster ramp in there which has all his workshop equip on it,since he got rid of second car put ramp up --car drives below it and you got 5ft+ of space for stuff on top of ramp --with that or another car s/h four poster ramp --£500- £1000 that is a cheap second garage
  16. If you really want a transformer garage then dig a basement under it as your junk/service room I am suprised with the space premium in modern house plots these days that more do not have a basement for junk+services
  17. will hessian not hold water when it gets wet and let it through and then freeze plastic sounds abetter choice I think the idea of hessian is to allow it to breathe and let water evaporate --can,t see much of that going on for ther next few months if the hessian is soaked with rain
  18. not going to dry up at all this winter -- and if it gets wet it will melt and run down the stone work and stain it -- I suspect you need to cover it with sheet to stop that happenning . frost can only cause damge it there is free water to freeze
  19. Is this the right time of year to be doing lime mortar building ? Iwas ubde the impression it was a summer job building with lime mortar, due to its drying time
  20. wouldn,t worry abut what that old fart says he is so into independence ,but don,t live here has far too much to say about alot of things
  21. I had one that could do any number from 3 to 5 studs manual operation -- FACOM --which is what we all say to the french anyway
  22. need someone with an old type balancer which has a wheel stud plate
  23. good project everything bolts on - and everything is obtainable In france you can buy a NEW open top thing called an eden--perfect for you southerners that are complaing its too hot in summer definatly turn more heads than rag top porsche https://eden-cassis.co.uk/ and someone is making conversion kits for 2 cv in this country --but knowing what you guys are like --you would make your own
  24. yes i had one of the first ones in 1977 --bought it cos you could drive it for a year --sell it on and make 20% PROFIT
  25. If you want to do an ev conversion what about a 2cv --weighs nothing and won,t need a big motor or a lot of batteries to get a decent range then when you drive it hard it will lean over and you will think you are sailing LOL
