It looks like the government are starting to backtrack All the contractors and most of the HP fitters think the 2025 new build date is optimistic at best

nod replied to gc86's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Most contractors will absorb Or like Conor split small increases But when materials double or more like many have You the client will be expected to step up regardless of fix rate contracts -

How to convince BC that slab not needed on the hardcore?
nod replied to Olf's topic in Floor Structures
See if you can get a SE to do a report to support what you intend doing Though they tend to be cautious also -

Going to have to stop saying this Plus one with Joe We did exactly that with ours Block and Block Full fill Roocwool Worked a treat Looking at the speck for our next it’s Recticell batts and a 20 mil air gap But that may change Its one of those things that well worth over specking -
No reason at all There are some nice anti slip floor paints and as Joe says You can always tile or wood at a later date
-

This Sean’s very sensible Joe As I’ve said before Those on here that are on a fixed build price will have to be flexible

When we started our last build The Brexit vote came into play mans put prices Interest rates and mass unemployment where supposed to follow We just pushed on anyway We will probably do the same thing I was just chatting to a friend who runs a drainage company He just said write a list and I’ll put it to one side Products are coming in But just going out so quick

Who to contact for utilities provision to site
nod replied to Post and beam's topic in Building Materials
There’s lots of online companies that will quote for all three Though water tends to charge for a quote in some areas Crown Energy being one Plot post code and a Google earth screenshot You can use the same trench on your plot But utility companies never seam to work together Three quote usually means road being dug up three times -
There’s a quite a few on FB advertising Tele handler and man £350 for an eight hour day If you can find one reasonably local They will simply drive to your location
-
Things aren't getting any better Even the large commercial sites are struggling for cement concrete and drainage materials

Plus 1 with Mr P we had a similar situation with an extension at our last home BC would allow us to connect them together A soak away was a cheap and easy option
