  1. The odds of this ever being picked up by planners are minimal Push on
  2. Not a gully But this is all I’ve done with ours
  3. Ideally 5 mil below the finished patio Or even flush
  4. It should be higher than at least the gutter Most of the fumes will be going back in to the house
  5. There isn’t much really Just a bit more harder waring
  6. If you carryon with the Counsul tax and utilities in your name Who would know Apart from us on here 😁 Im presuming that you would be including CT and utilities in your very short term let
  7. Tarmac seems to be around £70m2 in our area I’m not sure how much more Asphalt is
  8. First of all If you qualify for vat exemption Nothing you do now will effect that Breaching the three years on your Cil would only by triggered at point of sale It all centres around it being your main residence Utilities and CT registered to you at this address confirms this So as long as this stays the same Your fine Forever home I hate that term 😁
  9. Yes you can do this You might have to push the glass from the outside to get it out
  10. As above Much of what the Architect submits is quite generic Floors Roof drainage steels etc Designed by other When you get your quotes for the above BC will be fine with these as they will have all the detail
  11. As above Don’t bother Our first build was on a main road and across from a site and we had three impromptu visits All while the scaffolding was up This time we are down a county lane So no passing HSE Scaffolding was there main gripe each time Reason for using a company each time
  12. I used the 100 mil solids to add extra width on the foundations As i had a plinth wall running around the front and and side and six inch solids at the rear elevation due to an architect's cock up Due to Covid there was a 9 week delay on the correct width foundation block This was part of why the Brickies walked off My wife has just prompted me and said you You did call them wining little Bitc##s and tell them if you don’t like it F##k off Start as you mean to go on Don’t let anyone hold you to ransom
  13. We used to use these 20 plus years ago to fix to steel we would hold the metal in place Shut our eyes and pull the trigger and hope for the best Then Hilti brought gas guns in and now none gas HSE would have a fit if you got one out on site
  14. I normally pay a tenner for a 100 70 mil Teckies
  15. Tech screws are made for this You do a pilot hole But I normally screw them directly into the steel Letting them turn slowly The old type of Hilti and Spit guns can be really dangerous
  16. There’s absolutely nothing to stop them doing this I’m guessing the brickie isn’t quite available
  17. Well said I moderate on two unrelated sites Both are overrun by adds and scammers
  18. Great post The satisfaction of doing it yourself and knowing that your build will be there long after your gone Our granddaughter passes our previous build with our daughter most days and always says “Grandads house “
  19. They are escape windows That tilt and open in and can be locked I work on lots of new houses with these Signed off three weeks ago by LA Building Control
  20. The easy option would be to replace the glass with laminated glass Most of our upstairs have cills at 250 from the floor
  21. My mistake Warranty criteria Warranties rarely pay out The type of trays you use won’t make any difference to there cover A sheet of dpc over each opening is more than enough fore 99% of new homes
  22. Turned up dpc is fine Above window and door openings I don’t see how the warranty company can dictate how you build your house Tell them to f**k off
  23. As above 2 story =30 minutes
