  1. No limit... and I don't think it would apply anyway if you are trying to inser a url rather than actually upload the photos. Try downloading the photos to your own computer, and then add them to your post as attachments.
  2. Where did August go?? OK I mean it when I say I am actually starting the flooring now. So one final question: why do I still need to leave a 10mm gap when it's all getting bonded down? And why isn't the expansion gap proportional to the width of the room? I'm strongly inclined to reduce the gap to make it easier to cover with a 12mm skirting.
  3. Yes I should probably update to say that I've got a system already for the new house, so this single room thingy would just be for the bathroom in my current house. I am also toying with the slightly hairbrained concept of fitting one to my boat, but not sure exactly where and how to mount it- I think the 'outside' bit would need to be in the cockpit, for protection.
  4. Any thoughts on this chappie? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Single-Room-Heat-Recovery-Kit-Extractor-Fan-Extract-Supply-Fresh-Air-HRU-HRV100-/322424498584?hash=item4b11ff6998:g:thIAAOSwVcFXO4hT
  5. Not yet, I'm doing that later. As I told SWMBO, I have to go, even if it is a school night, since I owe them for a couple of pints from the weekend. It's a vicious circle
  6. Righto! Yes, tray is legless. I just didn't think it would make a big difference if the tray was sealed down to the chipboard directly vs sealed down to vinyl laid on top of the chipboard. I was a bit concerned about what I would do when the flooring needed replaced- I was guessing that the fitter would have to cut away the old stuff. So it's a no to going under the shower tray. What about the pan, skirting, etc?
  7. ...because it sounds easier that way...? Not under the whole thing, mind. Just a few inches. Now you've got me thinking, though, I guess there's too much scope for movement as the vinyl compresses? Plus I might need to pack the tray up by the same amount all the way around?
  8. Still trying to get my head around the order in which I should do all the work. I'm going to go for vinyl flooring, which normally I would just get a price for inc fitting. However it occurs to me that I might tackle this myself. If I put it down first, it only needs to be a neat fit in one corner of the room, and along those two walls. On the other two sides it will fly underneath the shower tray and the WC/basin furniture unit, so the edge will be hidden. The edges that meet the walls will then have skirting to hide them. I'm wondering if I could have a wee bead of sealant on the underside of the skirting to seal it to the vinyl. Or should I be approaching this is a totally diffeent way/order?
  9. Glad it's been a useful discussion. Don't take it personally... we just have to be a little cautious with new users... don't want the place to turn into a free billboard
  10. Shame there isn't a bit more info- not even wattage, let alone lumens, for those spots. Shame, cos I need some! I did buy some LED spots from LIDL in the past, 3 for a tenner, and they were pretty low wattage and dim. But that was over five years ago.
  11. Hi Thilo, I hope you get some good suggestions. As per the forum T&Cs I've removed the specific link from your post, but hopefully we will get a wide range of suggestions from our users.
  12. Ok, so I have SSE coming this week to install the supply (but not meter). I presume I will need to put something on the wall above where the duct comes out. Just reinforce it to take their own board? Or fix my own board, and if so would a piece of P5 chipboard be OK? Or fix my bit of chipboard to the wall, and then they can screw their board into that if they like? (I'm sure they must have told me this but there's been so many emails back and forth that I can't find it again!)
  13. Lovely job there, Nick. Update on my wee problem- I was running into difficulties on eBay with listings claiming to post a screen and tray to my address, but then hitting a brick wall when I tried to actually buy. However I managed some jiggery-pokery by changing address part way through the process, which let me go through to the next stage- even though the new address was one which had been refused when I'd entered it initially. I didn't expect this to actually get me anywhere, but they took my money and this morning it was marked as 'dispatched'! I wait with baited breath to see if anything will actually turn up...
  14. Oh. I'm planning on putting my meter inside and had assumed it could just sit near the CU, on a board, inside a cupboard. Is this incorrect?
  15. I got caught out by this when I bought a set of ladders from B&Q. I needed something in excess of 16ft, and the set I chose were described as 5.2m ladders. Except they turned out to be about 4.6m long at full extension, and the advertised length was actually 'working height'. Kind of annoying because it left me perched precariously on the top step when I was doing work on the ridge ends.
  16. I've got the loan of a Haygrove (sp?) tower. Afraid I don't know what these cost to buy. Pros: completely disassembles into a set of flat panels and planks. Can be set up as a 6x4ft base, or you can just use all the shorter panels to make a shorter 4x4 tower. Quite light. Set includes diagonal brace. Cons: tubes can easily jam inside one another. Dismantling it when on your own can be very frustrating- not too bad with two people. Limited number of platform heights possible. Can feel a bit shoogly (that's a technical term) once you get onto a third lift or beyond.
  17. Cool. I thought it might be a daft idea Oh and sorry I appear to have deleted one of your duplicate posts, and you must have simultaneously deleted the other one Too many mods in this thread...
  18. Thanks- will standard solvent weld fit straight into the compression fitting of that trap, then?
  19. Oh and another little niggle. The combined WC/basin unit (I went for a cheapie from Soak.com, oak effect, and so far it seems fine for the price. Don't know how long the foil will stay on...) has a slight overhang on the basin, which is to be butted up against the wall. So I need to fill the gap that this creates- it's about 30mm I would say. How would you chaps go about this? I'm thinking I could just fire in a little bit of softwood painted to match the wall... or try sourcing a piece of foiled MDF to match the unit, which would look better, if it is a close enough match. Or even butcher the unit and steal a bit off the back, but I'd rather not go down that route.
  20. Urgh. After a couple of weeks away from the build, I've come back to this and the eBay seller had changed their listing so that instead of £99 delivery to Islands, it was now £49 delivery to Highland (mainland). Not a huge problem, I save a chunk of money but have to call in a favour from the inlaws. Go to click 'buy' and it says sorry we don't deliver to Highland. Sometimes you spend longer looking for someone who will deliver than you do just finding a supplier in the first place. But you get used to it... still frustrating though. Anyway, on a different topic... I need to connect the basin to the waste pipe, which is a 40mm solvent weld pipe. I have a vague memory of difficulties in compatibility between different waste pipe systems. I presume the easiest thing is to do it all in 32mm with an adapter where it meets the pipe coming up out of the floor. Should I do everything in solvent weld? Are the anti-glug traps worth having? I'm sure @Nickfromwales recommended one to me before but I can't find the thread.
  21. With a shed that size you will have lots of new best friends. And then you will find you need a bigger shed...
  22. I had high hopes for tar planings but was quoted £30/ton- all depends on location I guess.
  23. Looking at option two... if you put some winder steps in, could you shorten the staircase enough to avoid that little boxout in the room above?
  24. What about hiring one?
