  1. never flush at night or else @ProDave will hear it!!
  2. I thought the smarmy comments from Kevin McCloud throughout the programme was not appropriate. Yes we know the owner was clearly in a dream world and made a real mess of the whole situation not helped by the architect but to make fun of the situation is Mr Cloud's forte
  3. Kevin speaks very highly of you
  4. The company I dealt with supposedly went into administration but are still trading and no longer have an account with Internorm. If you want further info pls feel free to PM
  5. My window company/installer was adamant that they only ever use expanding foam and not the tape but after a discussion they came round to my way of thinking so the installation included the cost of the expanding foam tape. They put expanding foam on the interior side above the sliding doors (expanding foam tape on the exterior side of the doors) and when the technical guy turned up from Internorm the first thing he said who has used expanding foam there even though this was not the reason he was there. The problem with Internorm and some of the higher end companies is that they specify the way the windows/doors should be fitted (but not so the customer will know if it is right or not) and if in the future you have a problem with the product and it is not fitted exactly to standard then you will have a whole load of trouble. Not only did we have trouble with the standard of the installation but we had the wrong type of door fitted for the location it was fitted in. When you query the whole procedure from a customers point of view you just get that the installers/fitters/desiners are supposed to know what they are doing and have been trained to do so but how are we meant to know what is an acceptable standard. Windows for us has been a nightmare. Do not under estimate how much the airtightness tape costs either.
  6. Internorm, the product is fantastic but the whole experience for us has been a nightmare from the initial order right through to the fitting and problems thereafter. All I can say is do your homework and get the right company. One point we wish we had listened to was people (Window sellers) telling us they had dealt with Internorm but never again as the process and dealing with Internorm was an absolute nightmare and I can confirm this.
  7. Sorry to hear about this Ian. Just been to Valencia for a few days and had my phone stolen so I know how inconvenient and damn bloody annoying these people are. The village post office had the cash box taken three weeks ago, somebody just walked in the back door and took it in broad daylight so me thinks it is somebody who knows the place or delivers to the post office. The house opposite was broken into and the lady owner had a lot of sentimental jewellery taken so before this the most crime we had was a garden shed being broken into! The chap building next to us leaves all his tools, Bosch chop saw etc in the garage and in front of a window and has got away with it so far!

  9. Don't encourage him!?
  10. I have just used this system on my large kitchen floor tiles and they have worked a treat
  11. Thanks mate, not sure I can afford the postage of those stairs as they look like an integral part of the setup! Have ordered some eurocones and will try my air test kit so may be coming back to you if this fails
  12. Has anybody used these adaptors as I need to use some to rig up a test kit for my UFH and they do not sell the inserts separately?I only need two but have 10 pipes to test and have not connected the manifold yet as not sure of final height position so would like to test the pipes now. When I have looked at them I think you would be able to re-use them instead of having to buy quite a few as the 16mm end that goes onto the UFH pipe has a bit that inserts in the pipe with a split olive on the outside and then the securing nut.TIA
  13. That is my reasoning also but I also want to test all the legs and just wondered what people thought about using air rather than water
  14. I had to use option 1. My B/insp wanted me to fold the membrane up and behind the breather membrane on the outside of the panelvent or the OSB sheathing in your case. My frame make up from the outside is render board, batten, breather membrane and then panel vent board and then timber frame and insulation. Hope this helps.
  15. I need to do an air test on one leg of my UFH as the timber frame installer decided to drill in a doorway when fitting the internal wall soleplate. The question is will an air test work to find if there is a leak now the pipe has been encased in concrete for over 12 months or will it be better to do a wet test to see if a wet patch develops? Hope this is not to silly a question!
  16. Talc also works for bald/shaven heads. If I have a sweaty head and I ask SWMBO to run the trimmers over it she puts talc on it and it stops the judder.
  17. Cordless angle grinder, plunge saw. I suppose it depends on your level of involvement in the build as to what tools you have!! I love my 6" pry bar, got me out of a few problems!
  18. My B/Insp said I was ok with soakaway crates. We worked out the roof area and just put in the appropriate number of crates. I will add we are on excellent draining land and the plot is reasonably large so had a lot of room to spread the soakaways apart. I also do not have any trees near me as the B/Insp was concerned about them silting up in the long term and the roof is metal so we should be ok I hope.?
  19. Just a query really, why is there a Hep2o fitting 15mm to 3/4" female thread and not a 15mm to 3/4" male thread?
  20. We put in red ducting as instructed. When the inspector came out to check the ducting before connecting the mains he told us we had used the wrong red ducting. We had used the red flexible duct instead of the 3 metre socketed pipe but at no point was this specified. He passed it after we said at no point was it specified what type of red duct was required and when the cable pullers's arrived on site they said they preferred the flexible duct as it provided a nicer bend for the cable to traverse
  21. Is this what you get upto on your day off?
  22. Sounds like it was written by @Onoff? This could give his bathroom a run for its money!! (Hope you get the answers you are looking for)
  23. Me too although I have never fitted concealed hinges so another foray into the unknown, eh Ian?
  24. You get a day off? Really!!
  25. Having a problem pulling 10mm cable (supply for hob in island unit) through 20mm ducting. The cable keeps on getting jammed and I wondered if it will be ok to pull it through from the consumer unit end with the outer sheath stripped off? The 20mm duct was put in before the concrete slab, which is Passive so it is within the EPS. The duct is directly under the unit where the hob isolation is situated and I can continue the 20mm duct to the entrance to the back box. Hope the answer is yes!!
