Its near Tenby 275k but it is a vast building for a single dwelling over 1300sqm would cost a fortune to convert. Think the agents were Birt in Tenby. When I read it intially I thought the plot was 1300sq m not the building LOL

Time off is a dangerous thing....eating breakfast sitting in the sun streaming in through the windows this morning, counting our blessings and not the hole in the savings account, idly musing on the jobs still to complete to finish off here when up popped an e-mail ....it was for a barn to convert with fantastic views over fields and out to sea. It was in one of my all time favourite places in Wales too.......before we knew it we had pencil and paper out doing the sums! Get thee behind me I have to recover from the last 2 years here first!!!

Lucky parents ?

@Weebles that made me shudder.....Looked just like mine. Mine was an install problem, no provision made for level threshold. Hope you can get to the bottom of it.

We are with Hiscox for buildings now completed was not a problem even without a pitched tiled roof. Our site insurance was Buildstore and we had no problem with it being clad....I would say we are about 50% cladding

I had acres of the stuff - we covered my entire floor in it as tiling was done and it was a sea of mud outside not great on pale tiles plus its good for protection if anyone drops a tool etc. We had it up internally at doorways to protect rooms plus we covered the aluminium front door in it to protect from damage....there were a million and one uses for it. The Wickes price is high I paid a lot less than that on line. Its tough stuff lasts and lasts really hard to damage, we skipped all mine to get rid of it but it had a lot of life left in it. I almost wanted to keep a few sheets as it was so useful

Antinox is the most useful stuff I used it for all sorts including doors. cheap too.

I have a retaining wall of a similar size. As far as I can remember building control had SEcalcs and inspected at start but not finished job. Our build warranty policy excludes the wall. Thats a real worry for you. I hope you can get sorted.

We are on the top of the ridgeway with fierce winds too. It wouldnt last 5 minutes out on gate...... and might encourage visitors and we are feeling like hibernating this year. It was a close call on decorations here. -

@Jude1234 funnily enough I have exactly the same question! LOL -
I used these people for all my internal doors - had oak door sets, pocket doors and flush doors (sprayed to my own ral colour). They do everything and in bespoke sizes. Very helpful and lovely quality. I dealt with Ryan http://www.doorsuppliesonline.co.uk/index.php

Sliding External Shutters: anyone ?
lizzie replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Construction Issues
Very nice not seen those before. -
I think @Russell griffiths has hit the nail on the head. My Internorm were supply and fit. The fitters who came did not have much experience - if any - of fitting these windows or passive principles....I think one of them even said it was like fitting any other window but that comment in the mists of time now Internorm are the market leaders ( I dont think they do supply only) yet the cowboys who fitted mine had not even watched the utube training vids properly judging by the c**k up they made of it all. Some fitters are better than others as is the way with everything from the slab/frame up. Its pot luck even with the same distrubutor they have several teams of fitters usually just hope you get the good ones who know their job and watch them like hawks having first watched as many utubes you can find on the particular windows you choose. At least then you have a chance of spotting anything going wrong.

Best simple ideas and concepts to design in to new build
lizzie replied to albert's topic in New House & Self Build Design
I have lots of low level lighting on PIR. Outdoor along my pathways and indoor along my hallways and in the bathrooms and also in niches in bathrooms. No fumbling for lights in the middle of the night. Guest w.c. is also on PIR...gets them every time LOL ...looking for the light switch. -
My build was light on UK sourced materials......my frame was from MBC (Irish but nominally Uk now in Gloucester) slab via MBC so who knows, windows from Austria, cladding Siberian Larch purchased via UK supplier but a French product, render I think UK as was roof finish, kitchen Italian, all tiles and bathroom fittings Spanish.............thats just a quick list. Makes you think..........

Extractors: Gaggenau vs Bora vs Miele
lizzie replied to curly's topic in Kitchen & Household Appliances
@ryder72 my bro in law likes my Bora and wants to fit similar but has an existing island and losing the drawers would be a problem. Can you give me a link to the Novy you mention so I can send him......EDIT I have found it online now so will send to him. I don't do a huge amount of boiling so never had any issues with steam, I usually zap the boost on the mvhr extracts in the kitchen area when cooking as well as hob extraction, I have large open plan living space and don't want smells travelling everywhere.- 39 replies

mvhr and plastering
lizzie replied to j_s's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I would put some covers over the vents too so you stop the dust going in and getting sucked through the system when you switch on -
Love it....nice colour?

Try and ignore all the niggles today and get installed. Crack that bottle open and after a few glasses everything will seem more rosy. Tomorrow is time enough for the niggles. Congratulations @Hecateh you have done an amazing job in spite of everything.
