  1. Baffled.com!!! Will have to google this! Thank you.
  2. Thank you. Done the on off reboot etc No change. Router is quite new, latest version of BT Home Hub...had alarm man here yesterday for something else and he said if complete settings reset or new router they will have to come out to re do the camera settings as runs via router and reset will knock out settings so although continuing to record will not be viewable on devices.............he said BT first line if reported is usually a complete reset but may have to go that route if can't resolve. It's so annoying has worked perfectly for a year. No new neighbours either.
  3. I have the house cat cabled so no problem with hardwiring in Mac TV's etc but for phones and ipads use wi fi. Up to now it's been good wi-fi signal all around the house but the last week or so its been awful. Can't get any wifi in bedrooms and none on my phone anywhere in the house. I am with the dreaded BT and I find I am locked into a contract for another umpteen months so provider change not on. Broadband on hardwired been no problem that I am aware of. It could be a few different things that is causing the problem...... all problem devices are apple so maybe some software update glitch on OS BT broadband has problems and will resolve in due course Remedy? Should I wait a while to see what happens or try a signal booster repeater? I have an old Devolo lurking somewhere or BT are touting their WHW (Whole house wi-fi) which appears to be their own system of boosters. *Admin if this is in the wrong place please move, I couldn't find a wi-fi section to open the topic
  4. We too went through this stage of thinking. a lot of people do. In fact we did buy and sell a couple of plots without building. We decided to stick with this one and build it out as it ticked so many boxes for us. You will always have 'unknowns' it is the nature of the beast.
  5. Hesitate to join in here but....we had to get permission to join into main sewer that runs in field next to us..... this was not landowners permission but permission from authorities. We put one proposal to them they rejected it, eventually we reached a compromise but we needed that permission otherwise would have ended up with treatment system on plot. On run off (rainwater) you are not allowed to discharge into the sewer system, we had to find alternative means. We are lucky being next to fields we were able to find an acceptable way. Again it needed permission and inspection. They do come and inspect and you do need that sign off. Its not just a question of capacity it is getting permission to join in to an existing run. I would certainly not advocate connecting into anything without the ok from authorities, it will come back to bite you.
  6. Mine is higher and longer.......can look out costs if no one else can come up with anything. We had SE input too.
  7. There is a company locally who advertise spraying in situ...garage doors, window frames, front doors even whole rendered walls, if it can be sprayed they will do it. No experience of the product but quite a lot of white upvc windows are turning anthracite grey around here!
  8. I have timber ali clad which is perfect for my inland exposed location. If I were on the coast without question I would go for upvc. I grew up on the coast and remember well the constant battle to keep the timber windows in good order.
  9. They look great...I was looking for 300mm wide, will see if I can accommodate a wider one (need 4 along a wall) at that price its mad not too!
  10. Thanks @NSS that is good info. I would be really interested to see how it performs over a span of different weather types if you have the time and patience to do it.
  11. That is a question I have yet to find the answer to?
  12. Looks like you used the same people as me? I learnt that blockwork was not neat and tidy as its generally not designed to be seen.
  13. Just had a look they have the same brand on Amazon and a but cheaper plus free delivery.....to be fair I would not have paid that delivery charge from Lakeland either they ( I bought mine in the shop) are flat and fit in an envelope!
  14. Very Interesting @NSS. I am considering sage glass for a glass box extension.......(don’t ask folks!). The heat transfer element of it is particularly interesting. Thank you, keep us updated.
  15. I thought I had seen a post a while back from someone who had found a good supplier. Can anyone point me at it or suggestions for supplier. Thanks
  16. Too loud? Amazing....I never noticed the difference in our living area switches - barely discernible click - to those in the bedrooms with a louder click. A005C62B-E71C-41EB-B125-36F3244BED9B.MOV 5A76F002-CEF9-40E3-8D71-68B1EEC7678D.MOV
  17. @Ferdinand If you blow up pic and look above parasol in corner where glass roof joins tiles you can just see lead diverter taking the water down into the gutter and away from the glass roof. We had normal gutters and downpipes and a huge roof and no problems with these diverters in place.
  18. I had that sort of tile. Tried to find a pic to show diverters on main roof but not much luck. Attached is an old pic back of garage see small piece of lead shaped to divert and slow flow as it comes down On the other side of the house I had some big steep valleys with several diverters, roofer placed them. When I had some cleaning work done on guttering outside my front porch they unknown to me removed diverters going into gutters and when it next rained we had a waterfall over the front door....queue roofer to reinstate lead diverters. Any experienced roofer will know how and where to place these.
  19. I had pieces of lead used as diverters to slow the the flow but that was on a tiled roof and have no idea what sort of roof covering you have. It was very successful for me on a large roof.
  20. I had a lot, all the kit like you plus a gate. I ended up giving all mine away to one of the brickies doing the garden walls....just to get them off site at the end.Its such a shame when they could be put to good use by another self builder. Very hard to sell but easy to buy!
  21. I have 2 that we fitted in bedrooms where we changed the handing on the doors but forgot to tell electrician so light switches ended up behind the doors so we fitted them on the other wall so they are as you walk in not having to reach behind a door for the switch. They work well enough. They are not on the computerised lighting set up they are stand alone. My main lighting in the rest of the house has wall controllers as well as app control. Its part of auto lighting system though. Very nice keypad switches programmed for different lighting scenes on different buttons/presses.
  22. We are grand central station for bugs and wildlife here. Bats, birds of prey, songbirds, corvoids, herons all co-existing with hedgehogs, foxes, deer, cows, sheep and horses. Get a lot of flies due to proximity of horses but have wonderful array of butterflies and moths as well a great bee population due to lavender. Lots of ladybirds too and some nice indoor spiders. I could do with a gecko or two to keep things under control really but English climate not suited to them. Not seen any adders thankfully. This autumn I am creating some new habitat for beetles etc as had to leave my woodlands behind with old house LOL Oh and have leatherjacket problem in lawn so millions of flying daddy long legs will appear very soon.....they will be dealt with ....zapped with the flies.
  23. LOL thats not what I paid I got 3 for less than £20 that was just for the picture of what it looks like. I couldn't find the link I bought from. Lakeland sticky are good.https://www.lakeland.co.uk/51468/4-Window-Fly-Trap-Stickers and I have these outside https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Red-Top-Fly-Trap/dp/B071XJFNYL/ref=sr_1_2?hvadid=79920783821910&hvbmt=bb&hvdev=c&hvqmt=b&keywords=red+top+fly+traps&qid=1564242743&s=gateway&sr=8-2 in trees a bit away from house. We had a cluster fly problem and pest controller told me to get these they are effective at killing before they get in but not great to look at. I also have 2 of these bargain buys (will I ever learn) going begging...see pic.. Unused won't fit my doors. Free to anyone who can make use of them.
