Thoughts on Wall-mounted faucets, both bathrooms and kitchen
lizzie replied to puntloos's topic in General Plumbing
love that basin unit @Moira Niedzwiecka your bathroom looks fab.....are you in yet? -
Do you have MVHR? If so outside extract is not usually recommended.
-
@dnobleIts so infuriating isnt it...what was your rating? I was mightily upset to get a B and be told without PV an A was nigh on impossible.
-
Any suggestions on suppliers for this?

If its just the headboard and bedsides not bed frame then ikea have one in white or anthracite for £120. Wont get cheaper than that but no idea what quality is like. There is a web site called head2bed.co.uk and they have various options at not too much money -
Mine will be fixed to floor with special glue pack fixings ...locksmith fitting it.....have been warned no way to get it up short of digging up floor once its fitted. @JSHarris I have a key safe away from the house but no sensible location for other safe away from the house. Good idea if you can do it.

I thought of it but was told too complicated.....was enough of a trial getting my flat floor wetroom waste and floor sockets in, bloody great hole for a floor safe would have caused a breakdown ....or a walk out....have passive slab with no floor build up ufh in slab etc.......

The great Saga of Dumb and Dumber cutting a tree.

Woodturners like Yew. I have a beautiful bowl turned from a yew that came down in my local churchyard in big storms in late 1990’s. If you have a local woodturner then a piece for yourself in exchange for the wood is nice. My house name plate is made from a piece of black walnut from a tree my nephew (tree surgeon) took down. It looks great and is so personal much better than a shop bought one for me.- 75 replies

Finally got round to ordering our house safe today....had spoken to locksmith during construction about best place for it in TF single storey house.....not as many options as brick house. Previous one was hidden in the wall behind a picture LOL.....seems very old fashioned now. Think in TF house a fire proof safe is a good thing to have, all the important papers locked away safe and sound.....most of us will have no secret hoard of loot to safeguard after build of course??

I bought myself a natty little tool whilst a locksmiths this morning.....its called a multi key or something like that. It has 4 different shaped ends so can use for all sorts of things, girly shopping at locksmiths who would have thought it! I’m sure all you chaps already have something like this but its new to me and I am chuffed with it, just waiting for the opportunity to use it now?

I may decide to have a small area of decking in final garden design....I could use a larch the same wood as the house is clad in but it may not be the best choice given the way it moves and will be in an exposed location. I have sent for some samples of Millboard. Did anyone end up using it? If I do it at all it won't be a huge area so don't mind paying for the right stuff.

It's not for discount, its for security. Ins co were happy with my 'unmonitored' system......I didn't want a discount. Mine goes to phone to alert me and if I go away I have the option of the call centre at alarm co picking up on a temp basis. I also have a maintenance contract with alarm co. It's not the same as the all singing and dancing commercial alarm contracts we have but those are a nightmare in domestic situations with the changed rules from police for call outs now.

I have POE ccctv system with HikVision cameras. Can view on phone, ipad etc......they are nice to watch the wildlife in the field too.
-
@Bitpipe I think insurers would not be happy if no alarm....whether or not you use it is another matter of course. I only use mine if we are all out or if away as if any problems insurers unlikely to pay out if alarm not set........getting in would be a challenge though.

Really like your central sphere....water feature?

@Russell griffiths....bit unkind to scaffolders

Ive had a few visitors but I’m not in your area....if you are visiting Mids......NEC or Stratord upon Avon then I am within half an hour. TF single storey.

Thoughts on Wall-mounted faucets, both bathrooms and kitchen
lizzie replied to puntloos's topic in General Plumbing
@puntloos I have had granite but still managed a careful wipe with a limescale cleaner...in this house I have granite too but with the infamous Halcyon device scale is different and wipes away with a microfibre cloth and my apologies I didn't realise it was your own tap thought it was a random pic from internet -

I had them in previous bathroom its just a style thing. Have seen them in kitchens again a style thing. Think you probably need to look at higher end European brands for more choice. Why on earth would anyone let their fitting get into the state of the one in your picture.....have they never heard of viakal once in a while. -
I've just had to phone my local locksmiths to repair an Internorm lock.......
-
There are oodles of windows to choose from, I chose Internorm over cheaper alts such as Ideal Combi, Velfac, Rationel etc as I have a very exposed location and wanted the best I could afford as I knew they would get a battering from the weather........ also some of the others could not do the bigger panes of glass and good sight lines etc...Internorm offered me the most on my wish list but I do regret not having the solar coating (was told I wouldn't need it) or factoring in external blinds (ditto on being told not necessary). The film we have fitted is a big help but can never be as good as a factory finish and overheating is something to be aware of when speccing your windows. Whichever windows you choose.....and you need to go and look at some, take a tour to some members houses to see different brands in situ perhaps......make sure you have good fitters. My lovely (and expensive) windows totally messed up by suppliers rubbish fitting team.

In our previous house they all vented out through the soffits

2 years ago my Internorm timber ali clad 3g came in at £566 sq m ex vat and fitting

How to clean textured floor tiles
lizzie replied to Ferdinand's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
We have always, in all houses, had a shoes off at door policy. Previous dog used to wait to have his paws wiped, Japanese style, this mud magnet is a whirling dervish when he returns from walks and no matter how much cleaning up done outside still mud seems to be deposited on the floor....usually skid marks where he is running so fast to get to his food bowl!
