  1. and I had to have 4 surveys through the summer and then a few weeks ago another bat survey followed the next day by a nesting bird survey then and then a destructive bat survey with the ecologist supervising the stripping of roof tiles. The only time anything was seen was when i left them alone for 30 mins. DO NOT EVER LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED.
  2. You’ll need a section 80 demo notice and a section 81 response. Kill all services off. Also you may need an ecology survey.
  3. One my labourer repaired a few years ago 🫣
  4. aaaaaand relax. I even managed to get the EPDM on today a couple of mins before the heavens opened. The engineer is scheduled to come tomorrow to set the foundations out but may cry off due to the incoming rain. If so he says he will come on Sunday. Digger Tuesday if the warranty company get their shit together. Southbank1-210748-210804.mp4
  5. A long time ago we had the same problem and the project manager instructed us to use expanded metal strips between the inner and outer skin.
  6. I'm interested in this as well if anyone has any ideas ?
  7. I made an initial enquiry through their portal I believe. This is a bit of a faff but they then emailed me and told me that they would install it at no cost and even drop all the ducting off for free. Then a couple of weeks later a joint box appeared infant of the site in exactly the right place. There is a God !
  8. I am in the same boat but Openreach have been excellent and are installing it for free.
  9. I’m paying £220 plus vat for a 20 tonne load. Plus the time it takes to load the truck. I had a 14 tonner there last week and he loaded it with ten buckets. From now on I only have a 5 tonne machine that will take longer.
  10. Aww shame. Power float is what I would have done on a garage floor. Is it powdering up ? If so what will you do to seal it ? I ask because my rushed summer house floor is similar. It will be my site office / canteen for the next six months and I could do without the dust.
  11. My next door neighbour had similar. All was ok until one day. …
  12. do you mean perimeter insulation ?
  13. I thought so 🙂 Personally I wouldn't build a brick wall without a suitable concrete foundation.
  14. I think he means building a wall and not laying pavers.
  15. I leave the blockwork out when building up to these openings. Tidy job Nod.
  16. I need 32000
  17. Nearly 11000 so far and counting. They are surprisingly good given their age.
  18. Nearly done and it’s raining. Just in time for 10 loads away on Monday. That’ll keep the dust down.
  19. Todays progress. nearly there ! 4028f8e81c6e12bef6bf38f2fba4b420.mp4
  20. I don't know to be honest. When they came to the end of the surrounding housing estate they would then have needed toast up a new compound and temporary offices and I guess on this scale the extra 2 houses are neither here or there. They had also had a bat survey in 2016 and they concluded that there was a brown long eared bat roost in the loft and they would have needed to have built a dedicated loft space for the bats which may not have been their top selling point.
  21. Getting there slowly. The demo guy has found a buyer for the bricks so everything has slowed down somewhat. The engineer will be there to set out the foundations next Thursday so I hope they run out of pallets and crack on. 74423d11fa359a2d3b733ea83d56f911.mp4
  22. I was thinking more sound transmission than anything at all to do with thermals.
  23. I have been thinking about this recently and was considering putting a 25 Or 50 mm piece of PIR down to the foundation against the wall to prevent any vibration / noise travelling through to the inside of the building. Good idea or not necessary guys ?
  24. In the past I have stapled some 100 mm dpc in rows across the joists to provide a temporary fix.
