  1. So briefly. Old existing box and new extension box screw together to come flush with the new wall / plasterboard. Then screw your existing socket plate on top. All you need to get is the new extension box.
  2. Put another way ... You have a hole in the wall that has a box inside then a flat socket that screws on top making it pretty flush with the wall. This is the plate that screws on. Nice and thin as you can see. This thing that you have doesn’t slide inside the wall, it screws on top of the wall making it stick out. This is no good to you. In fact you probably wouldn’t ever use it in your house. Maybe in a shed or similar. So your box that sits inside the wall is now going fo be too short as you’ve made the wall thicker so you need to add something to bridge the gap. So this thing that @CC45 has posted bridges that gap. It goes inside the wall to do that so you measure from the edge of the existing box that is inside the wall to where the plasterboard will come and buy one that bridges that gap. Simples. Then you screw your existing plate on top. Job done. If the wires are too short you may have to address that but let’s get the right bits together first.
  3. You have a son. You both like a beer or 3. Just sayin ?
  4. I think @PeterW has it too actually ?. He forgets I remember him obsessively labelling everything related to my heating system to within an inch of its life lol.
  5. In my case (I only have a couple of neighbours too) it was busy bodies from the village community council who were doing the constant complaining to the council so not necessarily a direct neighbour. Ours was over really petty things like where my neighbour put his bins on collection day, a workman parking outside my house when unloading (they called the police for that one and there are no parking restrictions here!), my garage being built (allowed under permitted development). Went on endlessly all because they hadn’t wanted the 2 houses built here. Someone else obviously became the object of their pettiness after a while because it stopped.
  6. With the very best company though ?
  7. I can't help with any advice I'm afraid but we'd love to see some photos. Anyone have any advise for @Daniel C re his leaky walls although you may actually be better off starting a new topic in the relevant forum for that issue.
  8. Still looking great. Can't wait to see all the stonework completed because that will turn it into a thing of beauty. Clearly it's @Redoctober with the OCD
  9. Yay, congrats, and enjoy the vino!
  10. Cos you is clearly on drugs Zoot Horn is it not, and that music is swingtastic
  11. Yes I was told I had to get an electrician to sign off that was registered with SELECT despite hubby fitting it all and having been an electrician in a former life.
  12. @zoothorn has his own music although it's possibly a more acquired taste than Verve.
  13. You have an X rated drill with a flexi thingy. The mind boggles as to what you are doing with that! ?
  14. @zoothorn bit of planning needed. Releveling if this doesn’t work out will be harder than attacking monster foam!
  15. Did they lay the pipes too? Looks pretty neat! Good to see things moving on for you.
  16. Ah yes it’s non opening. Still looks quite tight tho doesn’t it if this pic shows the bottom batten?
  17. How high does the ‘muck’ need to go up? That extra batten seems quite high in relation to the height of the bottom of the opening window. Might just be an illusion however.
  18. Earl grey?
  19. What colour grout are you having? If light you might want white adhesive so that there is no chance of seeing the grey adhesive maybe?
  20. Was it a company local to you? Not asking you to name them.
  21. Lol. Sometimes seeing other people’s jobs provides a bit of perspective tis all ?
  22. You haven’t been following @Onoff‘s thread have you? That’s pretty good going ?
  23. I’ve contacted them in respect of getting an ASHP fitted as I can’t get anyone out to quote but they just say that they can’t be seen to recommend anyone and provided a link to the website that I’d already used.
  24. We had to sign on the dotted line to say that the template was as expected. We didn’t pay anything up front at all although we had to agree to pay the template cost if we hadn’t gone ahead with the order.
  25. I read that whilst in a meeting. Made me laugh and everyone stared at me lol. I was going to use that foam once. My brother told me ‘don’t use too much and don’t panic if it starts expanding like mad, let it settle or you’ll make a mess of it’. I decided to let someone else loose on it ?. I imagine next time you will use it more sparingly? ?
