  1. I think if you can get circa 7k back via RHI and an interest free loan then it's a no brainer TBH. Have you been told what you are likely to get back? I've used the calculator that tells me I should get the full RHI payment but I don't have anything official. It seems an odd way of doing it TBH if they only confirm what you actually receive in terms of RHI after the installation. Puts a bit more risk around the process especially as they can pull these things whenever they like.
  2. Yep the knob regulates the flow. It’s not blindingly obvious unless you put your hand in tbh. First pic light jets, second pic full flow. It possibly doesn’t show up much but the light is more intense on full flow. Must be the way the light reflects / refracts or summit.
  3. How do you run out of cold? ? My controls look like that. Am filling the bath up (with cold) to see how mine works and will report back. I’ve only ever used that bath twice and have no recollection of twiddling any knobs ?. Do you really have instructions for it? Mine must be long gone. It was bought in 2010 too. I used it for the first time in about 2014 lol and only once since then.
  4. That’s the heat pump cost I guess given that it’s 7k with the tank and fitting. You can’t get an install done that takes you under the RHI figure I reckon. Always been the case TBH.
  5. Welcome to BuildHub. We love to see photos on here. Do you have any to show what you have been doing?
  6. Maybe they just don't want to take the risk of any liability if something were to go wrong?
  7. Thanks @Stones. A guy at work has been quoted for the Daikin Altherma Bibloc but has no idea how the metering might work.
  8. Well possibly as I should get the full RHI payment so £9100 back over 7 years. I'm hoping that it won't cost much more than that to install. But I can't install one so once I've paid someone to do that the DIY option will cost a lot more than your 500 quid so I think the maths stack up to go for an RHI option especially as there is an interest free loan too.
  9. Sorry @Redoctober one more thing (will stop harassing you soon ). How are they doing the meter for performance thing that you seem to need now for RHI? Is that an add on or do the Ecodans have something inside them to do that?
  10. Tried 5 so far with no joy . Will try the one @Redoctober used next.
  11. Can I ask what ASHP you are having installed please and a ballpark figure (I don't need the UFH clearly and I hope I can get away with my existing tank).
  12. Fab thanks, I haven't tried those. Tried the one at Duns and although he promised to contact me he never has and someone who knows him says he has been trying to get him out to quote for the last year! Have tried 4 in East Lothian too but no joy. I've got someone from the Scottish Energy Trust coming out to do an assessment here later in August. Never dreamt it would be so difficult to get a quote!
  13. I keep getting the ads too but I have been looking at them, however I can't even get anyone out here to quote me
  14. It actually says that in the link you posted: Receive Up To £925 Per Annum With The Government Backed Renewable Heat Incentive Cash Back Scheme Use Funding And Let Your System Pay For Itself
  15. It's the RHI payments. You don't get funding for the install (although in Scotland at least you can get an interest free loan over 10 - 12 years) but you can get up to £1300 a year RHI payments for 7 years depending on your house.
  16. There is definitely an 18 month relief period. Tax when you sell your home - Official Government Page Periods that always qualify for relief No matter how many homes you own or where you lived at the time, you always get relief for the last 18 months before you sold your home. It must have been your only or main residence at some point while you owned it.
  17. We were lucky then as we bought and used a twin axle Ifor Williams trailer during the build and took that to the tip in the days before they started being weird about postcodes and traliers. Saved a fortune in skips. Then we sold it for as much as we paid for it having used it several years.
  18. Do you remember the big lay-by on the A249 at the top of Detling Hill? That wasn't closed because of fly tipping but because the various authorities were unable to control its use as the local erm, dogging site, so they shut it!
  19. The local one that I’m not allowed to use has a big shed to put ‘too good to throw away’ items. It’s part of an initiative called zero waste. They have a large warehouse where it all ends up and they sell to the public. They also partner with various businesses so often have weird and wonderful things on sale. They cleared the entire map room at Edinburgh uni for example and sold them off for £2 each. There were some very weird and wonderful maps to look at and buy. They also collect items of school uniform and give away free of charge. Much better than so much stuff ending up in landfill. Zero waste
  20. I am (in theory) not allowed to use my local tip where I use the local shops at the same time because it’s in the neighbouring LA. I am supposed to drive to the one miles further in a place where I would never have any reason to go other than to dump rubbish. Very energy efficient! So I generally stick a bit of rubbish in the car when I need to and take it to the tip that I’m not allowed to use. I would only be challenged if I was there a lot or dumping what looked like trade waste as some people are asked to provide proof of address. Mostly I try to use the wheelie bin but sometimes things just don’t fit. My LA won’t collect garden refuse either but the neighbouring one does. I bag it up and stick it in the rubbish bin that is not allowed.
  21. The huge sprinklers on the fields containing crops have been going non stop here.
  22. Clearly ?
  23. Snakes in the grass?
  24. Time to crack on then!
