It is strange that we don't design in basements in the UK. You would think that with our unrealistically high land values that we would. I supposed that it comes down to the marginal price. Fuel is ridiculously cheap though. And, as I showed to Jonti, it was possible to get electricity at the price he said should be the 'subsidised' price he was after with a bit of energy management. On top of that, at the time, there was a number of schemes to help with improving energy efficiency in homes. Also it is possible for some people to move to a smaller, better insulated home, it is not possible for people to stop eating (though many could eat better/more appropriately). So it is not really comparing the same thing at all.

Yes, in some ways it is. We, as a nation, throw away about 30 to 40% of our food. Raising the price may help. But the problem, as usual, is that it will hit the poor the most. As part of my hobby, we share a building with a food bank. The people that come and claim the free food can arrive in a taxi, or show obvious signs of intoxication. Most smoke. So in a way, raising food prices is going to hurt some families, and definitely certain individuals. Usually the ones where mental health or addictions are a serious problem. I am not sure what to do about it, maybe raise the price of all alcohol/fags/illegal drugs and use the cash raised to help some people. Some will not be saved and will probably turn to crime, but it will be small scale and petty crime, nothing like the crime of not paying income/corporation tax.

I think food prices will rise in the UK if we do really leave the EU trading block. If farmers think they are going to get the same subsidies that they currently get, then they are seriously deluded. (that is a personal prediction, not a projection)

Not quite. He only knows where I work, which is not that close to my home, and I doubt if he knows my surname. Unlike him though, I have not changed my surname to try and avoid people I owe money to.

I thought they were all issued with steel toe capped boots these days, and not allowed to work in the dark, or go on property where there is a cat or a dog that may be dangerous. Now I went to my setting, notifications where already disabled, but logged out and back in and it did not happen. Strange.

Yes, have to set it to 'never again' or whatever it is. Still comes up every time I log in.

This pop up is really annoying. I think it is something to do with Firefox, but not sure. Question is, how do I stop it happening. I have told it to never notify me, it still happened. So I googled it and then edited some of Firefox's settings, and it still does it. It could be that I clear history, cache and only accept cookies occationally, or it could be that the site is trying to give me something I don't want. Anyone got any ideas?

I borrowed a car and had the toughened windscreen shatter. Not fun at 80 MPH on a wet Marlow Bypass. We used to fit toughened glass doors to all out saunas and steamrooms. Some got broke in the process.
