ProDave Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I say well done. I would never have attempted it as I know it's beyond my skills. When the beer has gone down and you have mellowed I am sure you will agree it is a success. 2

joe90 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 What a lovely piece of work, something to be really proud of, I know I would be. ? 1
Declan52 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 When that's all finished and oiled up it will look outstanding. Really superb skills on show there. And a lot of patience. 1
CC45 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Some people really make your own efforts look rubbish...... Fantastic piece of work 1
Pete Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Patience of a saint I say. Will look amazing when you have finished.
newhome Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 They look great. The greatest satisfaction comes from completing something that is difficult not the easy things in life. I hope you made it up to Faye! Deffo some TLC needed there!
Construction Channel Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 I know it's been a while but I have decided to go back to working on the stairs. Annoyingly I just couldn't get enough usable timber out of the elm tree to do everything but I managed to get enough for the stairs. ? I'll probably just use ash for the landing handrails. 5
Onoff Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Brilliant just brilliant. Enough left over for a stair gate? 1

philmx26 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 looks great, you are to be commended for your skillful work ?
Construction Channel Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Turns out I only needed to use ash for one handrail. But I was advised to fit the landing ones in a rather sneeky way by a joiner friend of mine. Obviously I had to cut the rail along the crease first but once back together it's almost invisible.
Jeremy Harris Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 I like that a lot. Brilliant way to make a neat, strong joint, especially in a location like that where it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to mortice the rail to the post.
Construction Channel Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 That's why he suggested it. There's nothing worse than hitting a dowel in and on the final hit it going loose from snapping the tennon.... And then you're in serious trouble. IMG_20190718_191821.jpgFetching info...
