I think I need to buy a new drill.  My corded one works fine, I have had it for about 30 years and it doesn't really get a lot of use so I am reluctant but I think it is necessary for safety's sake.

Watch the weight. I find the heavy ones too difficult to use and when using a heavy one as a driver the screws go all over the place as I can’t hold it steady. I was going to buy the girly Titan one that @PeterW recommended a while back but by the time I made a decision it was OOS.

There is also a 20v at the same price.  Would this be better?

I actually had the same question. Turned out, 20v version has a smaller 1.5ah battery.

One for those with a business or a sole trader

£50 off a £100 spend if you sign up (for free) for Amazon Business. Time limited offer. Sign up by 12th Feb and you have to use the voucher by 17th Feb. You HAVE to go to Amazon via the Head For Points link / advert (you may need to whitelist the page to see the ad), if you have extra strong anti tracking protection it may strip out the referral link, and you have to opt into emails (so that Amazon can send you the voucher)

Some are saying that you need to enter a VAT number but they have found a way round that - if I find out what that is I will update this thread.

Edit - the FAQs say this about the VAT number:

Do I need a VAT number to register?
No, adding a VAT number is optional. If you do not wish to add a VAT number during registration, leave the field blank and continue with your registration. If you choose to add a VAT number, it will be printed on your invoices. You can add your VAT number any time after registration through the 'Ordering and shopping preferences' on Your Account to enable this functionality.
Why do I get an error when I add a VAT number?
You may get an error message if the VAT number is incomplete or not in the required format. Make sure that the VAT number you add is complete and in the following format - GB123456789 (2 digit country code followed by a 9 digit number).

That worked! Thanks very much :D

I've just been looking at the plate compactor https://www.aldi.co.uk/vibrating-plate-compactor/p/012133263416400?utm_source=Aldi&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=Header&utm_campaign=OSDEmail11032019&sap-outbound-id=1988FF87141D78FCE51269EF581FE2A826EBCADB I've a fair bit of patio's and paths to do plus potentially a drive so I think I could justify the price - hire will get expensive because I only get evenings and the odd weekend to get it done.  Does anyone know anything about it?  Specs look OK compared to a Belle PCLX 400 Compactor Plate.  OR do I just buy a Belle on ebay - might be easier to sell post finishing the house.....

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks

I just bought a second hand one from someone on ebay for £100,  I will easily get that back should I wish to sell it.

The 3 year warranty is tempting on that Aldi one...

It's an awful lot cheaper than Screwfix are selling it for.

And probably the same compactor just with a different label on it (Screwfix Housebrand vs. Aldi Housebrand)

I think the Aldi one is £289 vs £529 for the Screwfix version. Quite a difference.

£5 off an Amazon spend of £25 today only.

All items must be sold directly from Amazon and not from one of its partners.

Only a couple of hours left on this but 50% off a lot of car parts. I've had quite a bit off of them. Free delivery too if you can wait a bit.

Use SALE55 code.

My usual factors wanted £60 for front discs and pads. This lot £45 with the code.
