Our plant room was designed to be in the middle of the house so shortest runs for everything.

He’s lived in Leeds and Manchester too. Was the same there.

While LiFePO4 battery chemistry is considered safe I still put it in the garage. I don’t have the room anyway. My garage is relatively big at 65m2 so have split the plant room equipment between it and the house.

The blue tank is a pressure vessel I expect. Follow the control cable from what you think is the pump control panel. If it goes down there then it’s likely the top of the borehole. It’s hard to see though. Normally there would be a well head. It might be ducting that runs to wherever the wellhead is. The big blue tank might not be a softener and instead could be some other treatment. If it is a softener where does the salt go? My softener is a large plastic vessel that holds the salt and brine and the blue tank sits inside it. Is there a UV light anywhere? What about water filters. There’s often two of those, one for large particles generally where the water comes in and another for smaller particles just before the UV light.

Mine is 1.2m wide by 3.7m long and it’s a bit tight. My batteries will be in the garage. I stole 400mm of the width to make the hallway wider. It houses MVHR up one end, data cabinet, CU, home automation panel, water distribution manifold, UFH manifold, HWC plus space to hang coats, dog leads, keys. You need to draw everything to scale and plan out exactly where it’s all going to go including pipe runs. I could easily have screwed my layout up by not doing that it’s so tight.

Why? I access the plant room relatively frequently. More so at the moment because I’m still sorting things out. Ease of access also means your more likely to keep an eye on things too. Think about what else you might put in the plant room. Apart from all the plant equipment I also have house/car keys hanging up, dog leads, outside coats and boots.

I’ve enabled the sensor stats for all the Loxone switches around the house so will remember to update this thread with some graphs when I have the data. It’s been very humid here in Perthshire these last few weeks. The Zehnder MVHR unit recorded the external humidity at 97% yesterday which makes for beautiful misty mornings. So much so it prompted the unit to temporarily run in boost mode (I assume as we weren’t cooking or using the showers) The nominal internal humidity is sitting around 50%. However what has surprised me is how different some of the rooms are. Some of this is driven by a slight difference in temperature (1°C between the rooms in the north elevation compared to the south elevation) One room (study) has been much higher at 58% than the other rooms so much so I thought we might have a problem as it backs onto the downstairs bathroom and most of the pipework runs across the ceiling. However there’s no correlation between showering and the humidity levels and my moisture meter wasn’t indicating anything. What it turned out to be down to was all the pictures we were storing in this room. They all have wooden frames and were being stored in a room in the rental that was unheated and was a bit damp. A combination of that, it being slightly colder in this room, and my wife wfh in it. Plus there still might be a bit of construction moisture in the building as it’s only be fully closed up for 11 months.

Cambridge has a good park and ride facility. I always used when I lived in Cambridgeshire.

My son (25) doesn’t drive and has no interest in learning. He works in London and commutes in by train. About a third of his friends can’t drive either and more than half don’t own a car. Car ownership is trending downward. Cambridge is relatively well set up to commute by public transport or cycle.

Is it possible to organise things to allow you to use the area that passed for the drainage field? We also only had one area suitable for a drainage field. Ours was further complicated by having two boreholes nearby and a running water course.

Ours (110mm) is in the coomb wall adjacent to the en-suite and runs at an angle following the pitch of the roof. But we also have an SVP coming out the garage roof.

Check what the lead time really is. If you have space get them on-site now. I had all the bathroom stuff on-site early to allow me to set the pipes, check fittings, sizes etc Also read the instructions. I stupidly fitted the sink first then offered the cabinet up to the sink. Should have been the other way around. 🙄

We have grown a lot of fruit and veg at a previous gaff where we had a lot of land to utilise. It was almost a full time job in itself. Makes you realise how hard life was back when this was how most people really lived and how a lot of people still live. You’re one bad crop away from starvation.

Where are you England or Scotland? I’ve never heard of being fined for storing stuff.

It’s treated with a different product that doesn’t require any wood stain treatment ever. It’s exactly how we wanted the house to look especially that it’s completely uniform regardless of elevation or under the eaves/windows. The colour is the thing passers by comment on the most.

Here’s a picture from a few minutes ago. This was the first elevation we did so it’s been on for 12 months and is more or less the final colour which is a honey very light golden colour. You can see how significantly different it is from the other pictures.

If there was cross leakage of air the smelly fish cooking would be all round the house. I do have my doubts about the IAQ hence why I want to monitor it.

We’ll be going up to Russwood in a few weeks so shall take pictures of all their decked areas. Be less anti knots 😂
