No such luck. Will have to be charity shop or library. (narrator: he doesn’t frequent charity shops) Must be loads of gardening books in the library. Old folks love that stuff.- 32 comments

I was tempted by https://shop.rhs.org.uk/books/general-gardening/beginners-guides/rhs-what-plant-where-encyclopedia but that’s quite an outlay. I think I should join the local library first.- 32 comments

How does your garden grow?
daiking replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
? glad it’s not just me. Terrible summer. -
it’s a thing ^ you missed Joe’s post a few days ago for a lawn sweeper.

Not to take away from your point which is perfectly reasonable but UK GDP is closer to £2.2 trillion (2.7t US dollars ish)
-
stands to see reason as my electric mower does a reasonable job too

I’m very lucky to have been disappointed so many times my expectations are now so low they cannot fail to be met.

Hope Aldi still has these in stock when I go at the weekend https://tinyurl.com/y24l5ke6

My issue with toggles in this application is that the holes you need are massive in relation to the screw and you might not have enough space for the toggle in the hollow section due to the paper honeycomb.

Back of bathroom door with a couple of bathrobes on it. No prizes for style but 4 years and solid. Geometry of the hook doesn’t do funky things to the door. Think I used an advanced plug in there (Rawl4All ?), probably a squirt of grab adhesive in the hole and then plenty on the back of the hook to stick to the door when screwed on. FWIW, it was the brown grab stuff not the white everbuild instant nails stuff I normally use.

Hell no, that’s where they store the previous tenants.

I have Adam Frost's "How to Create your Garden" on back order. I understand this book is more about the physical garden than the plants. So I'm also looking for a book recommendation about actual plants thats very practical on the choosing plants front. Say I have a spot X big that is sunny, want colour/foilage etc, want this height, low maintenance etc and get a planting guide - put X, Y, Z in, these sort of positions. Things for patio troughs, borders, in shade etc.- 32 comments

Don’t break them, even the no handle just a piece of plastic ones are £40 each to replace.
-
No I don't. I'm nursing a set of 4 very old (13 years?) Roybi nicad 18v batteries - which would probably last 30 seconds in a leaf blower. Have promised myself a new drill for a number of years but never quite made it across the line. The cheap cordless other name blowers typically only last 10-12 minutes on a charge so ideally you want a system where you have multiple batteries - without paying extra for more batteries. I use a corded lawn mower so... a corded blower will probably be fine for me.
-
That’s what I’ve been doing and that’s exactly why I’m now asking about blowers. It’s a never ending job to do manually so doesn’t get done enough.
-
Could be a good option for someone but that’s not going to get around stuff on the patio very well for me
-
See, that’s double the price of a normal one. Electric for me, obvs, but more a question of cordless/corded? Is a vacuum necessary? as it’s harder to empty the bag than blowing them into a pile and using those big plastic bin lid hands to pick up the leaves.

I used to think these were only for professionals or turbo-nonces who like to strut around their garden wearing a tool belt and pretending they’re Batman. Is there anything I need to know before I ignore all your advice and buy the cheapest one I can find online?

I’m sure there was a thread about that once from @ToughButterCup - the power take off not Earlex I have a Vax 6131T wet/dry and carpet shampoo

Is it the photos or is that door really narrow? -
I googled it. Bit much to justify for a typical householder.
