And if you’re boarding with 6mm ply, why not pack out the 44mm frame with offcuts for 50mm insulation?
-
In addition to this I have recently done a basic budget for a 30 sq m garden room at the bottom of the garden with a view to completion over 12-18 months. Something like 100mm timber frame with insulation and flat roof. This was coming in at £10-12k before extras and paid contractors. So the commercial department have also put a stop on this as well. Instead the Commercial Manager would like to see a shed summerhouse structure, such as yours, approx 12 sq m, in place in 4-6 weeks for approx £2k. Fortunately, it looks like a lot of suppliers are out of stock until next spring.

Silly season is over so, I’ve put a purchase request in to the commercial department and I’ve been knocked back ? Been told I must use the guest room ?

Whatever, I just use the wife’s KitchenAid

We put it back up as soon as lock down started as the weather was good enough to use several times a week, most weeks up to end of May. Since then the weather had been too bad and when I had to take the gazebo down several times it wasn’t worth keeping it maintained to not use. But if I’d been able to leave it at about 30 degrees this week it would have been beautiful in this heat.

Made the mistake of putting mine down a couple of weeks ago. Would have been beautiful this week in this heat.

How does your garden grow?
daiking replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
ffs, I now have (expletive deleted)ing cats emptying a large pot everywhere on the lawn and shitting in the compost as well as other things being dug into, potentially squirrels or the some (expletive deleted)'s ignorant cat again. -
Having checked the manual for my dishwasher, the quick programme use lower temperatures and fewer cycles than the ECO programme so I find it hard to believe that it uses more energy. However it is not a full wash so you have to manage what we put in it. I typically run a full programme weekly or so if we are having something like fish.

That’s quite extreme and I don’t think you are any more typical (well maybe ?) than AliG with his swimming pool. IIRC you live (by choice) in a small house - that’s a great way of limiting consumption. Unfortunately in anything bigger it just runs away from you. And it must be an allegory for many things. I bet you don’t have a fridge freezer, wine cooler and refrigerated drinks machine (?) . Nor 3 small streaming speakers (5W on standby). Low consumption is a philosophy about more than just low energy appliances. And something, as AliG finds, you need obedient/faithful followers in a family situation. We increased a 75m2 house up to about 130m2 and filled it with more shit nobody needs. And when the riveting subject of energy costs comes up, I *think* we’re relatively reasonable here but it would drive me (even more) insane time seriously attempt to change behaviours or maintain a serious low consumption regime. Where do you stand on cordless devices? Losses via batteries and devices permanently on charge and empty chargers permanently plugged in even when devices are in use. Plenty of boys and their 20 toys for LXT batteries here.

Thanks, I’ll come back to you in summer 2022 ? I’m not sure it was a question, more a desperate cry for help. We’ve certainly come a long way from the picture in my profile (not the avatar ?) but it’s basic utility not planned.- 32 comments

standard water filters are charcoal to take the chlorine out but that scale one is 'polyphosphate', claims to be some sort of IX material. I dunno, I'm not a process engineer.
-
Surely one of these in a standard 10" filter housing will do the job? https://www.ebay.co.uk/c/22004755961?iid=233339449058 I need to get a charcoal filter for water taste anyway.
-
United Utilities are telling me my water is Moderately Soft with a hardness Clarke of 4.69
-
My supply is nearer 15m away from the boiler.
-
It can't be witchcraft, surely their is a basic third party scale controller cartridge that can be added to the general water supply upstream (like a standard water filter) that will be a fifth of the price of the Quooker units.
-
(expletive deleted) me https://www.quooker.co.uk/media/wysiwyg/i/n/installation_guide_scale_control_plus.pdf the combi tank eats cartridges 13 weeks per £80 cartridge? At least Turpin wore a mask.
